#Orient CD Mac

Orient Disc: Got a new disc for the Mac which is interesting but seems to
miss MY mark of interest. I can't figure who it is designed for. Lovely
graphics and some great pictures. I'd bet we could do better discs on the
LA area or SF area. The idea is to do a disc that lets you visit and area,
see the sights and pictures. It should be possible to visit a city on CD
and see the things that you would otherwise need to travel to see, the
streets, buildings, people, places.
I got the Great Cities CD, which is similar to Orient, and was unimpressed
with it. IMO, it makes more sense to buy (or better yet, rent) a video tape
of the same areas. That would give you better quality and quantity pictures
and sounds.
What information does Cities have. The Orient disc is much more expensive
than I imagined from looking at the info. There has got to be a better
disc of neat things for the Mac. There are a lot of things I woould have
like to have found on the disc that just isn't there. I went to Groliers
for further info but I wish they had decent maps with pictures of places.
I'll check into tapes for another view. Seems some of us could do better
on our local cities.
Cities has about 10-12 pictures of each city, narrated by a local citizen.
While this idea (using a local voice) is cute, it makes a lot of it hard to
understand.
Most of the rest of it is text – descriptions of entertainment, hotels,
transportation, etc. – except for area maps. If you are going on a world
tour of all these places, this info could be useful. But for an armchair
(or should I say "computer") tour, 10-12 pictures just doesn't cut it, IMO.
