I need help with an A3000 that won't boot properly. A grey screen with the generic blue border pops up with an error message: missing ELSE or ENDIF 1>_ The machine runs WB 2.1, Kickstart 37.175. The HD boot partition has been analyzed by Quarterback Tools Deluxe, which deemed the drive usable. The machine boots fine from a floppy, but for some reason will not boot off its normal HD boot partition. The startup-sequence and user-startup files have been reviewed and nothing appears to be out of place, though the error message states otherwise. At the prompt, I tried re-running the startup-sequence, and got an error stating I couldn't re-run IPREFS, which makes me think the error is occuring late in the startup-sequence or else in user-startup. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Stephen Bailey Sawyer & Bailey Film & Video CIS # 72773,2451

>I need help with an A3000 that won't boot properly. What I would do if I were you is to add several descriptive command lines like `say "Making assings"' to the start-up sequence and see how far it gets then you could track it down to the command that is giving you the problem. You can boot up by pressing CTRL-D as soon as it starts to boot in order to stop it from continuing, if you need to. <<< Tony D. Tracer >>> (Any render time >0 needs acceleration.)

Add the following line as the first command in the startup-sequence: echo on When you've found your problem, put a semi-colon in front of that line so that you can easily use it again should the need arise. — Dale L. Larson, Intangible Assets Manufacturing — INTERNET:dale@iam.com

Thanks, Dale. Forgot about the echo command. I'll give it a try. Stephen Bailey Sawyer & Bailey Film & Video CIS # 72773,2451
