Let me know what you think of the Pegasus. It's time I dumped this Matrox 1024 Impression, and I need a minimum 1024×768/24 bits. – Jack

I think the MGAII is the fastest thing around, but not for DOS (Altamira should FLY! with the MGAs). Now that vibrant has MGA support I'm thinking of getting another one to replace my Hercules Graphite. Definitely loose that Impression. The MGA cards are a whole different ball o' wax. The MGAII top of the line does 1152 at 24 bits, and the MGA I PRO does 1280×1024, plus has 3D accelerator hardware. Pavel Korensky is currently working on a 3D render/preview IPAS that will specifically use the MGA 3D hardware. Also, #9 just came out with an inexpensive 64bit graphics accelerator that's supposed to be real nice. I don't know any more about it, though. John Tissavary (LUNA cie)

After my experiences with Matrox, I won't touch their boards. I saw the #9 about a year ago and was very impressed, but I haven't heard anything of it since. Is it really shipping? Does anyone have a "hands-on" tale to tell? – J

I just saw an ad for the new 64bit #9. It's got 1 or 2megs so it won't do truecolor at 1024. Also, I doubt it's supported by the in-line drivers. You should at least borrow somebody's MGA to check out. Mine is rock solid. I haven't found a better card anywhere for the money. John Tissavary (LUNA cie)

>>You should at least borrow somebody's MGA to check out. Guess I'm stubborn (_know_ I'm stubborn), but no matter how good their newer boards are, I'm no longer interested in contributing to their sales. I'll just have to wait until someone else comes along with a solution. – J

Jack, See my note to Bob .. same subject. I respect what Ron Scott says about graphics cards .. and he said it was a real winner for DOS performance and pretty darn good for Win. I'll be putting one in a P90 at the end of this week. I also called the fella's at Vibrant, and they didn't seem to be having support problems in 3DS. Ang
