distributing aaplay.dll
5 messages in this thread
Hello,
I want to produce MultiMedia software for Windows, where I will include FLI
and/or FLC files from other sources than Autodesk animator. Is it possible
(from the legal view) to distribute the AAPLAY.DLL freely even if I don't own
the Animator software?
If not, does the Autodesk licence agreement of Animator allow me to distribute
the DLL if i will buy a copy of the software?
any help will be appreciated

"Is it possible (from the legal view) to distribute the AAPLAY.DLL freely even

Yes it is legal. Thanks for asking.
Your next question will be, "How can I repress the startup Autodesk brag
screen?" This is our way of making it easy to get credit for the player
without having to go through legal hoops.
There is a version of the .DLL which does not pop up the banner, available
through Autodesk by paying royalty fees. This requires a bit more work,
contractual stuff, etc. If you need to follow through on that, email
xris@autodesk.com through the internet. I have forgotten the steps to send
internet mail through CompuServe.

thanks for the fast answer.

From NIk:
<<Yes it is legal. Thanks for asking.>>
From Brian:
With the exception of including it in commercial software or things for resale.
For that you need an agreement with Autodesk.
