#Extensions & MSCDEX 2.2
4 messages in this thread
I am contemplating a purchase of the new Bookshelf for Windows. Somewhere I
saw mentioned that it requires Multi-Media Extensions for Windows and
MSCDEX 2.2 and I only have 2.1, so does a vendor provide you with these
necessities together with the disk or do you get them some other way. In
the latter case, how?
Appreciate your help.

I have the disk but not the extensions. It works, but you can't use the MM
features like the speach and the animation. I haven't been successful yet
finding MM extensions for my system and it appears that I may need to get a
new controller for my CD-ROM, not sure yet. In any event, even without the
extensions it is fantastic and I would not hesitate to recommend you get it
right away while you are working out the extension problem as I am.
Aparently they are supposed to be available from your drive or equipment
vendor.
I read a message in this forum that stated that v.2.2 was available from
the Microsoft Multimedia BBS. I don't recall the number. BTW, I just
received MM Bookshelf for Windows directly from MS for $49. It was an
upgrade from the 1987 version. I have the MediaVision MM Upgrade kit which
included the Extensions. The sound and animations on the disk are AWSOME!
Once you witness them you will grasp the true power and potential of
MULTIMEDIA.
Derbin,
What was the upgrade process for Bookshelf? Who'd you call etc.
