Hi Mark,
Sorry that it has taken me so long to reply. I finally tried Final
Writer with 360 dpi on a 14 and 18 point font (the page wasn't full
though). It was less that one minute to print. I do notice that it takes
some longer printing from FW though than from TransWrite with a simple
font. I do have a A3000T with a 68030 which probably does help. The one
problem I have had is when it is printing more that one page, I lose a
couple of lines between. I must have something not set right I think,
about the page size. In trying to print address from SBase Pro 4, it also
cut out several lines at times.

Hi Gail,
I have the same problem with missing lines when printing a text file
from diskmaster… ive played around with the settings a little but doesnt seem
to help. With Final Copy i DO NOT have this problem. I get great output from
it. I saw the BJ200e at the store today seems it came out a week after i
purchased my BJ200… oh well.

Hi Mark,
Like you, I purchased my BJ-200 12/26/93 and didn't get it hooked up
and running before the BJ-200e was out. I was told on Canon's 800 number
that there definetely was going to be a upgrade for us BJ-200's within the
next month or so. Hope they haven't changed their minds.
I lose two lines also from Diskmaster. I'll have to try it with FW on
multiple pages. I keep thinking I should write Wolf Faust on the missing
line problem but don't want to feel stupid when he says it is right there
in the manual. (Which I printed out and am sure it has missing lines
also.) Also I wanted to check about how to send him the registration fee
for Canon Studios. If I don't figure it out soon, I'll have to break down
and ask. I'll let you know if I find out what is not set right. At least
I feel better knowing I'm not the only one with the problem.

Dont you just hate it when he says to read the manual!!! when i talked
to canon they didnt say anything about an upgrade?? keep me posted.

Well if i remember right its faster, with 2 way printing, more fonts but not
much else. looks the same. I was told that there was NO upgrade path while
others here say there is???? !!!!
it never fails i wait to buy something and a week later a new and
improved model comes out..
I was at the computer store this weekend and was playing around with
the new line of HP jets. Real nice stuff but still to large for my desk top…

Hehehe Gail, I'm sure I did describe the reason for the lost lines in the
latest Canon readme file… but maybe the sentence describing the cause
was exactly in those lines lost during the printout of the manual (you
know, luck allway's strikes you twice – this is number one).
Actually, it was me turning up first with the problem at Canon Uk (wich
are the people I mainly deal with at Canon regarding technical support).
I reported the problem but Canon was unable to repeat the problem on their
machine until I visited them in London. This leads me to the following
formula:
room-temperatur
lost lines = ————— – user nationality
age-of-user
So, in order to NOT loose any lines, go outside (if it's cold – don't mind
the power cable locked in the door) or wait until you got older in age
(and loose the printer guarantee) (wich makes luck number two).
Another solution: turn on "CanonForm" in the CanonPref page setup and than
define a page length in the printer preferences program that really
matches your paper size. Why? If the printer dip switch is setup to 12
inch and you print to US-Letter (11") or DIN A4 (11.7") paper… well, the
printer simply deletes the lines missing to fill the 12" page. The only
cure is to tell the printer driver to actually define a different page
length than 12" by using the Page Length setting in printer preferences.
And the Page Length setting is only used if the CanonForm switch is turned
on (default is off because of compatibility reasons…).
