To All, I have a client looking for a lower-end version of faces morphing like the Schick (Spelling?) razor commercial. Anyone know of any low cost programs/add-ons? These could work with 3DS or separately. Thanks Jimbo…

WinImages Morph from Black Belt Systems is an inexpensive morphing program under WINDOWS. It's the only one I currently of know that will do motion morph… which you'll need for the "Schick effec". It also has alpha channel capabilities which is handy when working with video and graphics.

The _best_ package out there, IMHO is Elastic Reality, from ASDG. They have an SGI and a MAC version out, but no windows version yet. I would highly recommend checking this software out, even if it DOES run on a mac <g>. John Tissavary (LUNA cie)

>> but no windows version yet… Have you contacted ASDG to see if a Windows version is even in the works? I keep meaning to do this but always forget. David

I did ask at NAB, and got some cryptic answer from a sales marketing guy, but it sounded like they were doing _something_ about it. I really hope they do, it's a package I'd put on my PC in a heartbeat. John Tissavary (LUNA cie)

I asked at Siggraph last year and got the same response, they didn't say no, but they didn't want to say yes either. Who knows? David

Black Belt Systems: (800) 852-6442 sales (406) 367-2329 fax (406) 367-2227 BBS I think the price is now under $100. Check out the Computer Shopper too. Tim P.S. Elastic Reality for SGI & Mac is tops… I believe a Windows version is in process. Once it's available I'll be on it like flys on a road pizza!

The absolute lowest cost solution (assuming you already have 3D Studio) is to use …3D Studio! 3D Artist magazine wrote an article on how to accompish exactly this type of 2D image morphing using 3D Studio geometry and texture maps. I'm not sure which issue it was, but I'm sure some one with all the back issues can pitch in and tell us. -Brian

I think that was 3D Artist #10, April 93. My understanding is that the article was reprinted in Computer Graphics World, Feb 94 in a new 3D Tips Section, but I didn't acutally see a copy. You can contact 3D Artist @ 505.982.3532. -Mark
