#Looking for CDTV titles

Hello! I caught this thread, and was wondering if you (or anyone else out
there) would be able to suggest where I might find a place that sells CDTV
disks and where I could find a list of available titles – I just recently
purchased an older CD-Rom drive for my A2000, and would like software to run on
it (the Grolier Encyclopedia, for one, sounds very interesting). The reason I
went with that, instead of a CD32, is that Commodore does not seem very
interested in supporting their loyal Amiga users by creating a CD product based
on the Amiga (i.e., CD32) that is not connectible as a regular CD-Rom drive to
the Amiga itself. Yes, I read about some new connector that will allow me to
use the CD32 as a CD-Rom drive for the Amiga, but at $300.00 for CD32, and
who-knows-what for the connector, it seems a little pricey (and ridiculous) to
have an Amiga connected to an Amiga-with-CD Rom drive-attached. Anyway, I
digress. Thanks for the help!

Steve, I can help with some of your questions about running CDTV titles on your
A2000. I am an Amiga dealer and have been trying various CDTV titles on Amiga's
with CD-ROM drives. Here's some titles that I have tried that work good and
some that don't. I would suggest that you get the Xetec CDx file system since
it includes a CDTV emulation mode to allow many CDTV titles to work on a
regular Amiga that would not otherwise.
Lemmings CDTV – works great on any Amiga, 030, 040 compatible.
WB 2.1 compatible, any file system (Asim CDFS,
Xetec CDx ect..) To play the Planetside demo's
requires Xetec's CDx, but the Lemmings game does
not.
Case Of The Cautious Condor – works great on any Amiga, may require
Xetec's CDx since I have not been able get it to
run under Asim CDFS. BattleStorm – works with Xetec CDx CDTV emulation only
Spirit of Excalibur – works with Xetec CDx CDTV emulation Groiler Encyclopedia
– doesn't work with 2.04 ROM, however I've heard reports that the new Groiliers
coming out soon will work on any Amiga.
There are more titles that work according to Xetec's manual.

Mind if i just jump in on this thread, do you know if any of the new
CD32 titles work on the ordinary a2000 with panasonic 501 cD and running
Xtec software. I am looking to increase my collection, so do you have a
list you sell as a dealer and do you exprot to England, and except master
charge or visa????

Hi Neil – sorry to jump in on the jump in !
Apart from lemmings (which runs on anything) you cannot get any of the CD32
games running on A2000 + Xetec. (also excepting the 3 titles from MMM – Now
Thats What I Call Games 1 & 2 , & Games & goodies)
The best titles to go for are the Public Domain & shareware collections from
Almathera, Optonica, the new one from Weird Science (Multimedia Toolkit), the
CD's from Fred Fish, the Aminet CD from Walnut Creek, the Imagine CD etc. etc.
If you are in the UK the best to contact are probably contact 17 Bit or
Almathera – or if you want a full list send me your address or Fax & I will
send you one.

I am a member of both almathera and 17 bit software, I have all their
discs but not heard of "Weird Science (Multimedia Toolkit), or the "Aminet
CD from Walnut Creek" What are they like. What kind of a name is "GTI
Germany" I was just over their living in a place called Wassenberg near
Monchengladbach. Could you send me the full list via this means to my
compuserve add. Bin mail may be or UUEncode if to big. Will contact 17 and

Labryinth Of Time from Electronic Arts which is a CD32 title works fine on any
Amiga with a CD-ROM drive.
Aminet CD-ROM is the entire collection of Amiga files from the InterNet.
Another popular Amiga PD/Shareware collection is the AMUC CD-ROM produced by
the Amiga Users Of Calgary Society in Canada.

I thought the AMUC CD was pretty lame myself. A lot of old files that have
been in the public domain for quite some time and certainly much less to
choose from compaired to the Aminet CD's. The price was right ($15), but
you get what you pay for <g>.

If you call Almathera, then ask Jolyon to give you the number of Weird Science.
They are in Leicester.
The Aminet CD (New edition Feb 1994) is also probably in stock at Alma. If not,

Aminet should cost you around 20 quid (but insist on the February 1994 edition
which is the latest !)
Well I am a Brit, but have been living in germany for more than 10 years now.
Amiga is our business, and Amiga-CD our speciality so it is my job to know my
way around !
By the way (general information) – Fred Fish is supposed to be sending the
Goldfish double CD (with Fish from 1-1000) to Europe tomorrow so it should be
available from this time next week. The frozen Fish wiht BBS files is due to
land in Germany by the end of this week also !

Do the CDs like Aminet and Fish play on CD32s – makes it more
useful since it will be connectable to other machines.
