#skin and morphing
5 messages in this thread
using a colleague's account with permission. was told this forum gives yost
group support. i have a skinned object which i wish to morph. i have applied
texture and arbitrary mapping coordinates as per my documentation, but i am
unable to animate a skinned morph object.. it drops from the renderer. does
anyone familiar with yost "skin" ipas have any idea?

Richard,
In order to morph a skinned object, you have to use what's called a "pointer
object". This can be any object (I usually use a small cube) – and you assign
skin.axp to the cube, and in the skin settings, choose the object you want to
morph by clicking on the 'pick object' button. and selecting your morph object.
So, Skin is not working on the cube, it's working on (or pointing to) the morph
object.
Make sure that Skin is not applied directly to the object that is morphing – or
you will get strange results.
There is a more extensive explination in the manual too.

thanks so much! youre a lifesaver. (I needed to hear it in different words..
documents and i dont get along so well..)
glad you got it worked out!
In addition to what Kyle said, pages 20, 21, and 30 of the docs cover this
pretty carefully. Do you have any specific questions about anything there?
