#Bones Pro bending leg

I'm using Bones Pro in conjunction with Metaballs to create a bending leg. The leg bends okay, except that at the point of the bend, the leg looks like a water hose would when you bend it, it flattens out. The leg has muscles on either side of the joint, so it tapers accordingly, but it looks really cheesy when it bends. How do I keep the joint from flattening out when it gets bent. Thanks. -James Franssen

Perhaps add an extra bone or two to constrain the "way" the knee bends. Also take a look at Visualize and Pick each individual bone to see how the vertices are being affected by each of these bones. Could be that you simply need to add a "knee cap". BTW Dave has a new upgrade to Bones Pro available soon which will allow you to de-select certain vertices. This may also be of some help in the future. -Lee

James, you might check out BICEP.ZIP (in Lib #1)- a flexing Bicep muscle animation I did. It shows how I used extra bones for muscles and scaled them over time to simulate flexing. -Kyle

Hi James, Try 1) To add one more bone having shape of cubic box just in the joint, where two bones meeet. 2) Make more vertices in the area of the joint 3) Play with Zone parameters of the bones involved in bending of the leg Regards, Mike
