My company ARCH IMAGE, INC. is located in pennsylvania. I contacted
you via CIS a while ago when you were asking that same question.
We do Architectural Rendering, Animation as well as consulting in
AutoCAD and the other Autodesk products.
We use 3DS, Animator PRO, AutoSHADE etc..
I am waiting for some information on some hardware products for
hardcopy output and Controller cards for my Nth TV NTSC Card.
If I can be of any service, please contact me.

I've started a company (<1 year old) in the Rockford-Chicago, area, doing
much the same things as you. I'd be very interested in sharing information
concerning business issues, hardware purchases, and techniques.
I want to focus on rendering and animation for architects and other design
professionals. I am currently trying to create a demo tape for marketing but
keep setting it aside for more pressing jobs (billable <g>). All of my paying
jobs are currently straight AutoCAD consulting and teaching at the regional
ATC. I hope that when I start marketing animation, I'll generate more interest
in that area.
What I've learned so far on this forum has been invaluable and I hope to soon
be in a position to offer useful advice rather than just absorb it all of the
time.

For those who are interested in architectural stuff, both computer and
physical models, I have a suggestion. Call the Leo Electronics BBS at
310.212.7179. After you introduce yourself in the Graphics area, you will
find the Co-Sysop named Cindy Reed. She works at Model-Technics of Newport
Beach, CA. She will be happy to chat with you about all that stuff. They
even have a laser to cut with and like that. I don't do that, so I am just
passing on this suggestion.

Thanks for the info. For us mid-westerners I believe a firm called Scale
Models Unlimited in Chicago offers much the same service as Model-Techincs.

Thanks for the reply. We can share info on 3DS, and AutoCAD.
Ive been working with AutoCAD since 87, and I primarily create all my
models with AutoCAD. Lately though I build alot using 3dstudio and import
back into AutoCAD.
If you need anything let me know. I will be posting some more of my
renderings and animations in the near future.
In the interum, look at MUGTREE.GIF, WINERACK.GIF, GYRO??.GIF
(these are the full names, the sysop likes 6 characters or less so the
actual names may be a bit different.

Thanks. I'll definitely take a look at some of your postings and send a few
of mine up for general critique as well.
I am interested in how you and some of the other start-ups here have gone
about financing and equiping their endevors. I'm trying to pull my business
up on a shoestring, starting with a $5K investment and growing to $20K to
date. I'm trying to avoid loans, but my lust for a Targa board and some frame
accurate recording equipment is making a trip to the SBA seem unavoidable.
Any success, horror, or inspirational stories about starting up?

The sysop doesn't like 6 character names, but is forced to use them because
the software on the board will not accept anything else…….<groan>.
