Greg, I have a small problem with Parout.ixp which I have recently bought from Digimation, they passed my over to you for tech. support. Parout wrks like a dream, (no more coming into work early to watch 375 frames of animation load into my PAR). The only thing I cannot understand is : If the machine on the network that has the PAR doesn't finnish the last frame in ther rendered sequence, the last few frames of the animation or not loaded into the PAR. Is there any soloution to this problem or do I just join the extra few frames on in the morning ??. Cheers -Phil

Phil: Hi there! >> Parout works like a dream, (no more coming into work early to watch 375 >> frames of animation load into my PAR)… Thanks! It is an incredible time-saver! >> If the machine on the network that has the PAR doesn't finish the last >> frame in the rendered sequence, the last few frames of the animation or >> not loaded into the PAR. Please give me the number of machines you have network rendering, length of time to render an average frame, network type, and the number of frames that sometimes do not get onto the PAR. Also, is the PAR on a machine that is the same type as the others? (CPU speed, memory, etc) We solved this for most instances, I'd like to take a look at yours in more detail! Greg Pyros

Thanks for the quick response. 5 machines: 2×486 dx50 (32mb) 2×486 dx66 (32mb) (one of these has the PAR) 1×486 dx66 (16mb) Avarage rendering time varys from 30 secs to 15 mins per frame. And the PAR usually misses the last few (4 – 10) We run Novell Lite. Thats all the info I can think of that will help you. Cheers -Phil

Phil: I've got some ideas for you – let's take this to e-mail so we don't bore everyone! Has anyone else seen this with PAROUT? If so, let us know, because we haven't! Greg Pyros

I have done about a dozen renderings to my 4 machines with times from 30 secs to 10 minutes per frame and have had completion each time. Parout works OK for me, Greg.

I know. I even had a pass to get in free. My wife had to be away and I landed a nice piece of business that week, so it's a good thing I stayed home.
