Well I finally did it! I quit my full time job and embarking into the world of
self employment and freelancing. I just had to tell the world. Looking forward
to spending alot more time in 3DS and on the forum. Someone please tell me how
great their doing that has traveled this road.

Hey Rick, April 24th. Newsletter to be done soon.

Great!!, I need to talk to some locals about rates so I can get a good ideal
what to charge people for my work. Also I world like to see some other peoples
work so I can gage my own talent. See ya soon.

Yes, do that. Talk to all those business people in your area to get their
recommendations as to how much you should charge so you can undercut their
prices and steal their customers away. I'm sure they will give you good
information. NOT! Of course you can always consult some of the literature on
the subject. I recall reading that one can charge as much as $1,400 a finished
second using particle systems and you can probably use this as a starting point
for your rates. <G>

I hope he took it in the humorous light I meant it. Sometimes this business
reminds me of the Scuba Diving Instruction business. Funny, I never
encountered this type of thing when I worked in the chemical industry. I
wonder why? <G>
I hope so too.
You know I'm serious about having that quote of yours over our main business
demo monitor.

Hey!…It works for me! <BG>

I should have had your sign a couple of months ago when I was working on a
project (movie) for PPV that used a Toaster, my FAST VM and a Mac for audio.
People couldn't believe it because they all thought I was prejudice against
those other platforms. Ha!
I notice that as 3D Studio seems to be coming in to more use in the
previiously "Other-Software" environments there is a lot of defensive
postering going on. I don't get very excited when I walk in to a
Post Production House and they've Got an AVID, I don't know Why this
happens when people see something New coming along that might just
improve their lot in life. It just amazes me. I think when you and
Paul Lind and Greg Pyros where talking about all the different
platforms and combinations of Hardware and software it all made
perfect sense that there was a vairety of tools and we should
consider them just that…"tools". We all have our preferences but
to give them the status of a regious artifact seems a bit silly to
me. We might as well be fighting over which Monitor is the best to
use based upon Manufacturer instead of performance spec's. Geezzzz!
I gotta go Kick a Mac User! <BG> See Ya' Later! <G> Murph'
I don' want to undercut anyones prices. I have alot of time and money
invested and so does the next guy. I am going to get a full time job
drafting and just part time it with 3ds right now. I am a honest
person and if I have to lie and cheat to get open ended bids I won't
do it!! I don't want to take jobes away from the full timers but I
have to bill out some work to pay for all this stuff.
Jeffrey
Congradulations! It's hard work, long hours, low pay, and FUN. Best of luck.

Whoa, isn't it a small world. And about that road – hope you have a 4X4.
Ryan (done the same)
Hey Ryan,
Got a truck, sad to say it's not a 4X4, but that won't stop me!!
<jir>
Yea, I just got a Jeep – well a Heep but i can't say that because it'll break
down and i would miss my freelance work, so i have a yeep. Guess it'll have to
do!
Work hard and make $
Ryan
