I've been impressed with their efforts to continue to support 3D Studio and it's users in particular. Remember what you have is certainly very good technology. If you want a Reality check here's a little story that just happened yesterday. I had a client that uses 3D Studio from time to time but his main method of making money is with Autocad and Engineering aplications. In Spite of the fact I mail information his way on a semi-monthly basis he never took the time to actually read any of it. When he walked in the door he was still talking about the Sanyo GVR-S950 and a Matrox Illuminator Pro Board as a means of getting out to Video Tape for S-VHS quality! I asked him if he'd gotten my mailings and he admited that he didn't take the time to actually do more than file them in his desk drawers. He was Amazed and Dumbfounded when he saw the DPS-PAR, RazorPro,and Turtle Beach Hardware & Software combination literally "create" an animation with transitions and Music then go out to video tape in just the few hours he spent with me! I think those of us that like to participate in the leading edge of this technology tend to take a lot of what we already have for granted! I beleive this is true of all of us because we like to stay in touch with the very latest this technology has to offer…that can cause us to sometimes forget that what we currently have may be light years ahead of what 95% of the rest of the population has…this is true especially for our particular intrest's because it is moving at such a rapid pace. I love this technology and that's why I stay on the crest of that giant curl as it rolls in over the rest of this wonderful country. I also have to remind myself that my budget is limited and that to stay on top of things I have to make very good decisions as to the products I carry and therefore offer my clients. So Far I've been extreemly lucky as well as fortunate because the information provided by Autodesk and members of this forum has been extreemly accurate and valuble. I'm greatful to both Autodesk and the members of this forum for this. I'm sure that all of our questions will be answered in time for us to come to a purchase decision in a timly manner, remember that the new par board is for Windows NT, Is not supposed to ship until June…possibly later..I suspect that we've got a little time to head in that direction. <g> If you plan on going to the Windows NT version you've got to think about Windows NT first, what are you going to run it on. After which you have to deceide how much your willing to invest in a new machine as I suspect it wouldn't make any sense to run it on "old"<g> technology…This is not a small decision… Our Dealership will be investing in a Windows NT Video FileServer with Multiple Processors (probably 5), a _LOT_ of Ram(at least 320MB), and massive Hard Drive Space, (3 each 9GIG Drives Stripped), the network will be fiberoptic and we'll be plugging the new perception video recorder in to that for service bureau work we offer our clients. I have no Idea what that'll cost us in fall when we actually build these for delivery and sale as well as internal work but at todays prices we're in the $30, 000. price range. My thinking is this would be the optimum way to implement the newer technoligy…who knows?…perhaps in the next couple months we'll be looking at something entirely different. What I do know is that the $30K number is what were most likley going to be spending on new technology no matter what that turns out to be.<BG> Well, I guess I've rambled on enough, better jump to hyperspace!…………………………… Murph'
