Has anyone else running Emplants Mac emulation on an A2000 had any
problems reading floppy disks?
I have a Power computing 1.4meg Floppy in DF0: it works fine on the Amiga
side, flakey under cross-dos and not at all with Emplant, am I missing
something thats not in the Emplant manual?
When I put a floppy in 95% of the time the Mac thinks it's blank, tries to
format it, and fails.. the other 5% of the time I get an Icon, with will
open to show me the contents, but thats it.. no reading, no writing..
I'm convinced it's the floppy drive itself even though I returned it and
PC said theres nothing wrong with it.. (They only tested it under
AmigaDos) I'm loath to buy another one only to find that doesn't work
either.
Can anyone recommend another floppy drive that -will- work?

But can I just go buy a floppie destined for an A4000 and expect it to
work in my A2000? I have WB3.1 so no problem on that front but are they
hardware compatible?
If they are, I'll buy one….

Do you mean the Power XL high density drive by DKB? I have one and it works
perfectly on my A2000 and on Emplant Mac with Mac high density disks. It also
works perfectly with high density IBM formatted disks?!

Yes, thats what it is a Power XL HD drive..
This just confirms my suspicions that I've got a poorly aligned one.. Ok,
this time I'm taking it back -in- my amiga so I can prove it doesn't
work.. with a print of your message as proof that it should.. <g>
Oh, does your have that small circuit board hanging out of the back, and
are you running the software patch that comes with it? ..just curious..

I am running the software patch that comes with it on an install disk but there
is no "circuit board hanging out of the back".!?

Hmmmm.. me thinks mine is a standard PC floppy with some clip on hardware
to make it Amiga complient.. The circuit board literally plugs in where
the normal connectors do and then the connectors go in the back of that..
I bin had!

The back of mine is flush with the external case. It has a female 23-pin plug
and an on-off switch. The cord for connection to the computer ext. drive port
also exits the rear.

Totally different drive.. guess thats why your works and mine will soon be
living a useful life as a paperweight…

The A4000 floppies will work just fine, they just don't match the casing very
well. There are/were A2000 CBM HD drives as well.
