#COREL to ANI PRO ?

I am a COREL DRAW user who is looking to create some animations from a
series of marketing type pictures in COREL. The problem I have is that
COREL doesn't export to any bitmaps in COLOR…
I've tried HIJAAK, but am having trouble maintaining aspect ratio and
correct color balance after the conversion from vector.
I am an ANI PRO novice — can anyone suggest anything or point me in a
better direction than HIJAAK ?
Any input will be appreciated…

maybe display the corel draw picture and then use a tsr res util to capture
to disk.

Sherwood -used Paint Shop – a shareware utility to do a screen capture…
The problem here, is that while maintaining aspect ratio, color isn't
great, to say nothing of resolution…
I think what I really need is to get a good vector to bitmap conversion
going so that I don't lose too much in the way of detail, and so that I can
get a good dithered or diffused color rendition rather than the "good ol'"
VGA 16 closest match.
I may be shooting for the stars here, but I can't see myself redrawing
everything directly into ANI PRO (let's face it, the drawing tools are
better than average, but they're no COREL or MicroGrafx).
Thanx for the suggestion though… If you have a favorite utility, please
let me know and I'll give it a shot to see if it's any better than Paint
Shop.

There's a Windows screen capture program called Tiffany Plus by Anderson
Consulting & Software (North Bonneville, Washington). Use it to capture the
full-screen preview display in Corel Draw. You can capture the preview
screens in color .pcx format in incrementally numbered files, then load
them automatically into AniPro using the Numpic program. Note: Since most
keypresses knock you out of the full-screen preview display in Corel Draw,
you need to configure the hotkey in Tiffany Plus for [Alt]-[End]. The above
system will give you a 640×480 flic. I haven't tested other resolutions or
aspect ratios.

Thanx for the recommendation… Please see my reply to Sherwood regarding
the problems I experience using screen capture, though… it would seem
that resolution is severely sacrificed in this manner… Not to mention
that some color rendition is lost.
Where can I get more info on Tiffany Plus ?

The resolution I got while testing the screen capture looked exactly the
same as the image on screen in the full-screen preview mode of Corel Draw.
As to where to find Tiffany Plus, maybe one of the dealers on this forum
carries it or might know where you can get it. I gave you all the info I
had on it (which was buried in with the registration card).

I've tried Tiffany Plus….not much luck. But then again…maybe I just
don't know what I'm doing.

Here's what I do:
1. Preview image in CorelDRAW! at the desired resolution (set up windows
with the appropriate video drivers–640x480x256, 800x600x256, whatever)
2. Copy screen to clipboard (Print Screen)
3. Paste image into program like Paintshop or Wingif (shareware, available
in the GRAPHSUP forum)
4. Save as a GIF file
Works fine. Occasionally, CorelDRAW! uses a color reserved by windows (1st
20 colors used for the desktop). I just fix this up in AniPro. Usually,
though, I just create the shapes in CorelDRAW! and color it in AniPro. I've
found this approach to be most efficient. (IHMO, Corel is a better shape
tool, and AniPro is a *much* better color tool!)

Mike -different screen driver, but I will give it a try ! I agree that ANI PRO
is a better COLOR tool, and hadn't really thought of that approach
either…
I still have a problem though with resolution loss due to the screen
display resolution, but perhaps with a tighter driver…

check out the slide show option of Mosiac, and then use a screen capture
prog to capture them to disk.

Hi Matt,
two utilities I use effectively for this very thing are,
Image Prep, and Tiffany. Both are windows capture utilities and
Prep does some other neat tricks too.

Tiffany was recommended by someone else… I think Sherwood, but I don't
remember exactly.
Image Prep is a new one… Who manufactures it, and where can I get it or
more info ? Also, could you whet my appetite with more info on what you
mean by "other neat tricks" ?

p.s. : I really wish someone could recommend a vector to raster
conversion… The screen capture idea is working great, but I'm still not
happy with the resolution loss…
Matthew, Have you tried hitting Print Screen right from Windows and then
paste it into Paintbrush? Mike
Yes, I did…
Actually (and humorously enough) that's what COREL suggested…
The bad news is that no matter what tool or method I've tried,
I can't seem to retain the true colors (I think my Windows display
driver might be hinering me here — I get 16 colors) and I lose
alot of resolution…
I think I need to get ahold of a good hi-res 256 color driver.
