Bob: I'l put up my 486DX-2/66 against nearly any machine for slow booting. I
haven't timed it yet but I would guess more than 2 minutes for WARP! Usually I
can do something on my Amiga while it boots so I don't lose the time. Now I
have an Emplant (no ROMs yet) so I may switch to the MAC emulation for the
music programs I need the IBM for. (Now: Music Printer Plus & Band-in-a-Box/ on
Mac: Finale & Band-in-a-Box) Tom Hunt

Well, our PowerMAC beats it in spades. (A full boot takes over 5 minutes. (I
don't remeber exactly, as I don't boot it that often, but I think it took over
10 Minutes.)
Now, our AS/400 takes about 30 minutes on a clean shutdown. 🙂
btw, My 486DX33 (soon to be a DX4/100 again,) takes a mintue 20 seconds to
boot, but when you consider the complexities of the OS, it's understandable.

Yikes! I imagine once the disk system is rewritten for the PowerPC that'll
speed up a little…
