Well the Adobe Premiere vs. Razor Pro debate is over. I stuffed about 50 entries ( out of total of 100 entries in that contest ) into a drawing box for Premiere at a small trade show and Surprise, I won. My question is…. I've decided to wait until the PVR comes out in June, rather then get a PAR now. Are you developing PVR versions of your PAR IPAS? They seem like they're very useful and I hate to not be able to get them.

David, PMJI, i just came back from NAB and you should be aware that the PVR software was written for Windows NT therefore as far as 3DS goes it will be useless until 3DS R5 is available :{

Hi Tony, << therefore as far as 3DS goes it will be useless.. >> Why useless? I don't mind having a system bootable with Dos and WinNT. Can I render in R4 to disk, boot NT, copy the files to the PVR and then..?

The Digimation booth was one of the big highlights. Anyway, it looks like you missed the Windows 3.1 software for the PVR. The software that I saw was running on Windows 3.1, DPS said that they would continue to support Windows 3.1 until 3DSr5 was up and running on NT. So there is software for DOS and NT for the PAR and PVR. Also, finally there is audio sync capability for the PAR!! <G>. –Mike -Mike Morgan

The PVR FAQ states that windows 3.1 software will be available for a while. Also I could set up a 486/66 16meg NT machine on a network and render from my DOS machine to that. If I don't have the money left over ( after I buy the PVR and HD) to put together a new machine,I could still use one computer; I could start up in DOS, render from 3DS to TGAs and then start NT and import the TGAs ( I don't know if "import" is the right word, but you get the picture. Just a few thoughts…. ( of course maybe people will be selling PARs really cheap, It's still a great gadget.) -DC-

David, << Are you developing PVR versions of your PAR IPAS? They seem like they're very useful and I hate to not be able to get them. >> If you are going to upgrade to r5 why would you want the PVR ipas, as you can just have the PVR interface running while 3DSr5 is also running in Win NT? Mark

>See my reply to Mark.. I saw it …..and I would rather not have to do it by hand later So I will be getting the IPAS ( assuming, of course, that they will work with the PVR.) Thanks again Greg David

Mark: >> If you are going to upgrade to r5 why would you want the PVR ipas… Some people would still like an automatic method of copying all the files over to the PAR as they are rendered, instead of having to do it by hand after a render! Greg Pyros

Greg, << Some people would still like an automatic method of copying all the files over to the PAR as they are rendered, instead of having to do it by hand after a render! >> Right, I agree that you should port parout. I was talking to David about your parctrl ipas. Mark

David: >> Are you developing PVR versions of your PAR IPAS? DPS has stated that there will be no DOS versions of the PVR, only Windoze and NT. This leaves out everything until 3DS5. You could have a single machine with Windoze on it while you are rendering out to the network if you don't mind losing a rendering machine… Greg Pyros
