Does any body know if there is a plug in for 3d studio that will digitise a 2d
colour image, to produce a 2d vector shapes that can be used in the 2d shaper,
lofter and 3d editor?

Sorry, I haven't heard of an IPAS routine to digitize a 2d image directly into
3DS, but there are plenty of other software packages that will take a graphic
image and create a DXF vector file, which 3DS will import as a shape or a path,
like Hijaak Pro, Corel Draw, etc.
