Antialiaser needed

Does anyone know if there is an equivalent to JAG on the PC? I can't seem to
get a nice antialiased edge on my 2d manipulated images, and JAG would be
great- or a PP/Pshop plug in would be even better.

John,

The only thing that comes to mind is the file halftg.lzh in the Graphics Vendor
Forum (go graphven). But it does reduce your image size by half.

Hmm.. I forgot about that. I've got it around somewhere.. I think. (done by
VRLI/Vista Pro guys?) I'd really like Jag.. 🙁
Thanks for the idea though. I'll have to pull it back up again.

If I'm correct in remembering the product you're referring to, I think they
have a PC version (think I remember seeing it in a mail order cat. a long while
ago); 'course I could be mis-remembering again.

I seem to remember the same thing… could it be that they ran an AD for awhile
in anticipation of a PC release, then pulled the ad (and the program?)????

yup, that's the one.

Jag IS available for windows. I bought it a couple of years ago, but
haven't needed to use it yet… it's still laying around here somewhere. If you
check the larger mail order places, you should still be able to find it.

There IS, (or was) a JAG for the PC — I've got it. I haven't used it
in a L O N G time, though. Have you seen/heard of the program
"Images Incorperated" by Iterated Systems? "IS" is Michael
Barnsley's company (he's the guy that came up with being able to
create simple re-iterative algorithms to encode images — sometimes
called "The Chaos Game")? I've got version 3, but ver4 is out. It
can fractally compress a file, but it will also fractally enlarge or
reduce an image — in theory giving you a sharp and non-blocky
enlargement, as opposed to pixel replication methods, etc. I
originally bought JAG to try and handle that problem, but have ended
up using ImagesInc, instead.
Sounds interesting. My thing is I need to take a normal bitmap and
de-jag it enough so it shows up on NTSC well. I do blur filters, but
that's not exactly the same thing. I need something smart enough to
figure out a curve, and then smooth it out, using the background
color in the anti-aliasing. (while keeping everything else crisp,
and not muddied.) If Images Incorperated will do this, please let me
know. I work at PAR resolution, 752×480. If JAG will do what I
need, mabe I can send you a test file, and see if it works enough for
me to buy it off ya. What I'd really like is a de-jag filter. 🙂
Well, co-incidentally (or synchronistically), I just got a flyer in
Tuesday's mail from Ray Dream, Inc, the makers of JAG (and something
called JAG II).Give them a call at 800-846-0111. They offer JAG or
JAG II (again, I have NO idea what the diff is) for Mac or Win to me,
as a "special Ray Dream customer" <g>, for $49 — so I don't know
what the standard price is.
For what you want, I'd say that Images Inc wouldn't do it, but I would
wonder if the functionality you seek isn't in Animator Studio. My
dealer just got his copy in the other day, so you might try your
dealer, and see if you can take a look.

AS is definately overkill for antialiasing some bitmaps.. 🙂 I'll look into
it though.
Thanks for the Ray Dream #.
