PPP

I would appreciate some help with the following:
1) Must one contact CIS to start using PPP access to the net or simply set up
one's system and go ahead?
2) I'm a little confused about domain name servers number and destination
address. What are the correct numbers for each for using CIS PPP in the U.S.?
3) If I use Cis PPP to access the net from my personal Amiga, do I need a Sana
2 driver (I'm trying to set up PPP, AmiTCP, AMosaic and GUui-FTP)? If so, where
does it get installed?
4) What's the difference between serial.device and dialer.device? Where can I
get dialer.device and where do I put it?
1) Set up your system and go ahead.
2) The domain name server number is 149.174.64.41, enter 0.0.0.0 for the
destination address (the last one's in the PPP installation instructions in
PPP.guide).
3) PPP is a SANA-2-compatible driver, or at least the documentation says so.
4) I don't know. I haven't needed the dialer.device, but some people have
recommended it.
Clay
Thanks for your help.
Is there an extra driver (sana 2) that has to be obtained elsewhere for the set
up or is this included in the PPP files?
Hank
I don't think you need anything but ppp.device and the standard serial.device
that came with your computer.
Clay
The Amiga PPP driver is a SANA-2 PPP driver.

Thanks, Dale. My ignorance is evident.

1) Just set up the software. Since you already have a CIS account, you're all
set from that perspective.
2) The domain name is compuserve.com, and the IP address is 149.174.64.41
3) Yes, you need to put ppp.device version 1.30 into the devs:networks
directory.
4) I don't know what the dialer.device is used for…. I don't use it.
Thanks for the help, Steve.
