To All: Maybe someone can help me figure out or nail down why my system is acting so weird. 1. Sometimes (more frequently as of late), text gadgets are suddenly inoperative in all kinds of programs. You open up a gadget, place the cursor, but you can't enter anything. 2. Also, sometimes if I open up a text gadget characters begin entering themselves to infinity, like 000000000000 to the end of the string. You can't erase them or get them to stop. Only exit the requester. 3. Programs behave strangely. While D/L-ing messages from one of the Forums while using AP, the "Compuserve Fax" window would suddenly open by itself and 00000's would begin filling up the page. I had to hit the cancel button to remove it. More messages would scroll for a few seconds, then the Fax window would return with more 0's. Posting replies has also been affected. In order to post this message it's taken several reboots to be able to type anything. 4. In AdPro, I went to crop a photo but the size text gadgets wouldn't let me enter a figure. And dragging the crop box locked up the program. 5. To reboot, I have to hit the CTRL-A-A keys twice. The first attempt just turns the screen white but doesn't trigger the reboot. This has all been recent. Sometime ago, I D/L-ed MUI thinking I'd use it. I didn't, and thought I had dumped it. Then I found an MUI directory in my UTILS drawer, so I dumped it. But just the other day, I discovered another mui directory hiding in my RAM:ENV directory. I edited my user-startup sequence and took out all entries pertaining to MUI. But, whenever I boot, I find the same mui directory in RAM:ENV, yet I cannot find any command in any of the startup routines that puts it there. There are no assigns, no makedir's, no nothing. I suspect that this may be a contributing cause, because when I delete the mui directory and its pref contents, things seem to clear up somewhat. Meanwhile, I've run everything through my antivirus program and the system is clean. I've got an A2000, CBM 030, MegaChip, DKB2632 w/17 total megs RAM, and OS 2.1 Any ideas on where or what this bug is and how to 86 it from my life will be greatly appreciated! CarsonT
