Hi Bob, I can't figure this out: I've got a project file which will not show the mapping icon no matter what I do. Other files work fine but with this one the mapping icon will not appear. I've tried, Surface, Mapping, Adjust, Find. I'll get the "Rescale map icon to viewport" message but after I click on "OK", nothing happens — the icon is never visible in any viewport. I've stripped the file down and emailed it to you. It's titled "alec.zip." I would appreciate your help on this. Thanks, Alec Jason

Hi Alec, PMJI, but I had this problem before, no matter how much I scaled, moved etc. my map icon was gone too. Try to change your mapping type to cyl. and back (it happened to me only in planar mode). Good luck Michael

Hi Alec, I downloaded your file and tried it out. I do get the mapping icon to appear by using Surfaces/Mapping/Acquire. From the top viewport you saved, I tried selecting several objects that had mapping, and the icon appeared. It wasn't near some of the objects, but shifted to a side or above. It did show up, however. From reading your message, I take it that the icon does not appear for the entire model when you try it. If it's only certain objects of this model, please let me know which objects they are and I'll check it again.

Hi Bob, I'm still working on the no-mapping icon problem. If you still have my original file, try this: 1. Make the Back viewport active. 2. Do "Surface/Mapping/Adjust/Find" When I do this, the mapping icon does not appear. I can, however, find it using an the "acquire" method but I don't understand why I can't get it to appear with the Find method. Thanks, Alec Jason

Alec, Have you tried using a standard VESA driver to see if the problem lies there. Are you using Liquid Speed? If you are maybe it displays the icon differently depending on which method you use. FWIW. DM

David, I think I've found the problem: I switched the vibcfg setup from 256 colors to 64K so I could try the Meshpaint demo. I didn't realize that doing so makes the mapping icon nearly invisible sometimes. That's the cause. Thanks much, Alec Jason

Glad you found the problem Alec. Yep, those drivers can be a pain sometimes. DM

Bob, Please cancel my map icon problem. It was caused by my switching from a 256 color display to a 64k display. With the high color, the mapping is nearly invisible in some views. Thanks for your help and I hope I didn't waste too much of your time. Alec Jason
