#ATVista and 3DSR4
16 messages in this thread
Hi,
I`ve got a problem with my ATVista board. I had 3DSR3 and everything worked
fine with my ATVISTA board. I connected the ATVista to my SONY LVR 4000P. I
used a SONY TV with S-VHS connection as a video monitor. As I said everything
worked fine with 3DSR3.
Then I updated to R4 and now I have a problem. When I display a image (or
rendering to RDPADI device) using the RDPADI driver (exact the same I used for
R3!!!!) my image is completly blue (looks like a sync problem).
What is wrong? The settings in my 3DS.SET file are the same. The driver is the
same, the hardware is the same. I deleted the 3DADI.CFG file and reconfigured
the ATVista board: it didn`t help me.
PLEASE HELP ME………..
Michael

Must be the PAL software or drivers, everything works perfectly here with NTSC.

Greg, I don't know about the ATVista but when a couple of my
Illuminator Pro Clients upgraded they forgot to put the CallBuf's
Statement back in to PharLap.
Does the ATVista require a Callbuf's Statement like the Illuminator
Pro? Murph'

Since I've never heard of "Callbuf's", I guess not!

Good! I'm beginning to really wonder about Matrox. They come up with this
Great Hardware but you can't get them to present you with a decent Driver to
save their lives..
The Callbuff's Statement is "Required" in the PharLap line for both the
Illuminator Pro and the Matrox Max. Literally every one of my clients has
forgotten to re-add this to the PharLap line when they upgraded to Release 4c1.
I can recite it from memory.
If you've got a Illuminator Pro it's CallBuff's 1 if you've got the Matrox Max
with it you use CallBuff's 2…well that was last years code anyway. Actually
I beleive it was the code that was expected 2 years ago because last years code
is still not ready. <BG>

Good one!

The driver works fine with 3DSR3. But when I use it with R4 I have a
real problem…

Michael,
I have spent the last month using my AT Vista with R4 and have
not had your problem. The color is fine.. But, I did have that
problem when I first used it with R2 and tried to capture pictures.
When I captured from video, the red, blue, green color order got
mixed up when displayed at 16 million colors and all the reds were
Blue.. I tried it at 256 and 35K colors, and the problem went away.
Maybe that will help. Good luck.

Hi Sanford,
what me really makes mad is that everything worked fine with 3DSR3 (same
driver!) and doesn`t work with R4. BTW: Vista Tips works fine, too.
Hey, by the way: I read your PRO CGI in the 3D Artist. Great articles ( I WANT
MORW PAGES). I love to hear something about the "High-End" user in Hollywood.
Put me on the list of subscribers as soon as the pages are stand alone… <g>.
Michael
PMJI, but I installed R4 on my system that includes an AT-Vista last week. No
problems.
I have no idea what can be wrong. Maybe it`s a little devil in my 3DSR4 ADI
driver… <g>.
Michael
You might also contact Truevision. I got a real person the last time I called
and they were helpful.
I did contact Truevision but they had no idea.

Hi Michael,
It sounds to me (all blue) like you have a bad connection with your output to
monitor, or possibly a bad connection for the house sync IN, if you're
connected in that fashion. Or of course, there could be more severe problems
than just a bad connection. I have had this happen several times, all bad
connections. I think the R3/R4 difference is coincidence.
Regards,
BILL
Hi Bill,
>>I think the R3/R4 difference is coincidence.
Yeap, I learned a new english word: "coincidence". Took a few minutes to find
it in my translation books but now I know what you mean <g>.
Well, I don`t think it`s a connection problem. The ATVista is directly
connected to the LVR and both is synced by the LVR internal sync generator. And
if it would be a sync problem why does it work a lot of month without any
problem with R3 and with TIPS?
I`ll give it a try and try an other cable, sync settings and so on…
Michael
Michael,
Glad you liked Pro Cgi…the next issue will be stand alone, and if all
goes as planned it will be placed in the envelope with 3D Artist magazine,
along with subscription information. Don't look for it with issue #19,
however. Most likely it will start for real around Siggraph time. I'll
definately have a Siggraph issue.
I will announce it on the forum.
