I am having trouble getting the par software to work. We downloaded v.1.5, and neither join nor append do anything. When you click on join, it asks for a file to join, but only lists the file that was originally selected. Also, when you click on the append button, it says preparing for append, and then doesn't do anything. Could someone tell me what we are doing wrong. We have just gotten this par board and are of course running up on some deadlines.

Tolek, After you select join, it starts with the file you had hilited when you selected join. From then on, select additional file(s) in the sequence you want to join and then click ok. PAR will then create a TMP file of the joined files. Depending on your setting in the PAR.INI file, this will be either destructive or not. Destructive means that the original files don't exist independantly anymore, only as one single animation file called TMP.ANI which you should rename. In non-destructive mode, the original ANIs are left as they were. APPEND simply means to take any ANI file on the PAR and make it the last one so you can render addtional frames to it. I hope that helps and I explained it well enough.

Sounds like you're going through what I did when I first looked at join. I expected to be able to pick the names of files to be joined out of the box that appears when you click join – but there's only one file name in it. The trick is that the main selection window where you normally pick the name of a file on the PAR drive to play it or what not is still active, even though the join window is showing. Click the names of the files you want to join in the main window, one after another, and they will appear in the join window where you can select them again to join them. Jon Burleson
