#PAR and audio??

Oh minor gods and goddesses of the great multi-media mountain:
I want to capture some component (Hi-8) video with the PAR, and convert to
.avi's for PC un-hardware assisted viewing. What can I do to retain the audio
portion of my video and keep it linked to the visuals. Is this even possible?

I talked to DPS a few days ago and the report was that the audio/video sync
drivers are going to be available real soon (I think they are calling them -AVI
drivers-) and if you yell loud enough they will get them to you immediately.
Also, if you are doing the conversion to the AVI format for playback from your
hard drive, Razor Pro does a great job of using a custom palate to convert your
AVI to 256 colors and you will also have the capabilities of doing transitions
with audio and video with RP.

Question #2; if I dont use Razor Pro to make the PAR to .avi conversion is
there any other software that will do it?

I have not looked into the new NT software for the PAR/PVR, what I do know for
sure is that the NT/PVR exports all file formats that NT supports, this will
include BMP, PCX, TGA, TIF, AVI to mention a few. The only other product would
be a conversion utility that will read sequential TGA's and did a conversion to
the MSWindows AVI file format. I don't think you would get the optimizing
(custom palette) that you can from composing RP clips to achieve the non
hardware playback option that you asked for.
