Joe,
You need to use a GLOBAL reflection map in the globals timeline, or assign a
reflection map to the eobjects in teh detail editor. This map can be any
image, but for neutral types of reflections I use "plasma" types of
images…..that is…white soft streaks or clouds blending into a black
background.

GreG,
Thanks for the tip. I've been experimenting all day. That's why this message
will be short. I'm zonked.
And BTW, I've been playing with Kai's Power Tools and creating some of the
weirdest textures you've ever seen. Now all I have to do is find a way to use
them <g>.

Well Joe, if you are inclined to share them with people on the forum, I'm sure
they'll come in handy and be put to some interesting uses. 🙂
-GreG
GreG,
I wouldn't mind at all. But first I have to figure out how to upload files
using the program I have and then see how much it costs (I'm on a *very* tight
budget these days).
BTW, if I upload maps, do you know if I'll be stepping on anyone's toes or
infringing on copyrights or anything like that? I'd hate to get a nasty email
message from Kai's Power Tools telling me that I must "cease and desist" or get
hit with a lawsuit or something. It's probably no big deal at all, but I'd just
like to be sure.

Joe,
Uploading to a forum is free of connect charges…the clock stops when you
initiate the upload. What software are you using? Maybe we can get you up to
speed in this department.

I take it these are image maps that you created right? If so, the only
person's toes you are stepping on are yours! <g> The software you used to
create these maps, in this case KPT is a commercial product and copyrighted.
The images you produce are yours, and free to do with as you wish.
If you are still unsure, just leave a message here in section 11 (HSC) to get
the scoop from the makers of KPT.
-GreG
GreG,
Free uploads??!! Holy Moly, I didn't think *anything* was free these days.
That's great.
As far as the software I'm using, I just switched to TAPCIS. I don't think I'll
have any problems uploading once I read the manual on how to do it. I simply
haven't gotten around to it yet. Between my day job, Imagine, and KPT, it's a
wonder that I have the time to write this message to you. <g> I'll probably get
to it this weekend.
Finally, I suspected that I was just being paranoid, but in these days of suing
for spilling coffee on yourself, well, I just want to be careful. And yes, I'm
talking about images that I create *using* KPT, not KPT itself.
Type to you later,
-Joe-
>> Free uploads??!!
Joe,
Yep, otherwise what would be the incentive for someone to upload?
>> Between my day job, Imagine, and KPT, it's a wonder that I have the time to
write this message to you. <g>
Well, if you like creating textures with KPT, IM3.3 should keep ya even busier
doing just that. <g> Nuff said there. 🙂
-GreG
GreG,
What would be the incentive for uploading if it weren't free? Well right off
the bat I can think of two – recognition and advice.
I can't even think about 3.3 yet. Otherwise I'll need 72 hour days. <g>

Dear Mr. GreG,
(sorry, in a silly mood, ST:Voyager does that to me)
Somebody uploaded 28 jpg images to the DTVForum that they thought would be
appropriate for tile images in 3d modellers. They're PD, and I even grabbed a
few. The looks vary from sandstone, to granite to terrazo (sp) (wooden) tiles.
Just thought I'd mention it.
Jim,
I've seen many of those textures, and most of them in that library are not
tileable. Some are, but many are not. Regardless, it is indeed another source
for texture maps. Thanks for mentioning it.
-GreG
Joy… okay, I'll try out the ones I got, and if they're tileable, I'll post a
message with their names.
Your fingers are still acting up 🙂
