I just have a logical question. With all the rumors swirling around the
"Ranger" and the "Built-in IBM card" I begin to wonder.
It seems logical that the Amiga will be upgraded. One example is Commodore's
switch to a 100-pins standard for the bus. When these upgrades occur, where
will the current Amiga owners be? I plead for PC/XT/AT type compatibility
between machines, if not complete compatibility.
Well, at least software. The Amiga A1000 is an excellent machine, and is now
being recognized as such. The popularity is gaining. I hope that I will not
be "cast-off" if Commodore-Amiga goes the route of some companies where the
original owners are forgotten in the face of new machines.
How about it? If we see a Ranger (A2000?) will the Amiga (A1000) survive?
Does Commodore have an official statement with regard to future machine
upgrades? Of course, no one expects that previous owners will get a free new
machine. I just worry about compatibility within the Amiga line.

dont think C-A is about to cast off the A1000. The A2000 is also rumored to

The next Amiga brand machine to be seen will most likely not be the 'Ranger'
but an upgrade of the A1000 (Ranger chip set is rumored to still be many
months away). But, to comment on your question — no, I don't think you'll
end up with an orphaned machine — it wouldn't be too bright on CBM's part to
kill off a machine after only a year of availability (or less).
