#2.0 & Bridgeboard

Is the bridgeboard working with the 2.0 installed in an Amiga 2000?
– via Whap!
Pat,
Yes…my XT BridgeBoard works fine with a 2.04 ROM installed in my
A2000.
Don
Yep, It works but…. Do not try to install it AFTER installing 2.0. This
means NOT reformatting the HD. I have an A2000HD with BB and it works just
as well (slow) as before. I don't know of anyone who has successfully
installed it on a 2.04 system. The new version of Janus should resolve this
problem when it arrives.

Mark,
I've got a 2.04 ROM, have reformatted all my drives under the new
FFS and run my BridgeBoard just fine. I don't use JLink or MakeAB, but do
use AREAD and AWRITE and they work just fine for me.
Don
I just bought a used XTBB and it works fine under 2.0, but the AMouse locks
me up every time, so I have no mouse. ARead and AWrite work just fine.

Dave,
I just tried Amouse with one quickie program…worked fine.
Don
Oddest stuff, isn't it? Maybe we have different versions of AMouse?
Hmmm, I stuck it in TTX and came up with Amouse v1.5.
-Dave
David,
Same version I've got (1.5). What exactly is happening when you
try it?
Don
If I click on AMouse gadget, I get:
——————————–AMouse Program failed (error #80000002).
Wait for disk activity to finish.
Suspend Reboot ———————————

David,
Strange. You on a 2500/30 by any chance…or just a 2000?
Don
Yeah, I have an A2620 board in there. Never thought that might be a proble
I'll have to try it with the '020 board disabled.

Dave,
Nope…that wouldn't be it…I've also got an A2620 in my machine.
I was thinking of the '030 in an A2630. On those, you've got to turn off
data cache for the BB to work properly.
Don
Darn it!!!
When I click on AMouse, I get:

Don,
I think the problem is not that the BB won't run under 2.0 or with the
new version of the FFS but that the installation and PcPrefs won't work
properly. If you backed up all the files, reformatted and then restored
then things should be OK. I don't use Jlink or MakeAB either. Aread, Awrite
and Atime all work OK. Have you tried running PCPrefs? Whammo!
….Mark Sterling 74335,1677
Mark,
PCPrefs simply creats a 1 byte long file sys:pc/system/2500prefs.
However, there is a known bug, that has nothing to do with 2.04
that says if you don't first remove the file
sys:pc/system/sidecarsettings.table before you save your preferences from
the PC side…you may end not being able to access the PCWindow in the
color mode.
Don
Don,
I remember the problem with deleting the sidecarsettings file. Maybe it
isn't that hard to install a BB under 2.04 if you know just where to put
everything and know just what to put in "2500prefs".
….Mark Sterling 74335,1677
Mark,
You don't need to know where to put everything, you use the install
program that comes on the software disk. You run PCPrefs and make you
selections and it'll save them out in 2500prefs.
Don
Don,
The problem is that the install program doesn't work–it kicks out with
"cleaning up RAM disk". And PCPrefs kills the computer when you try to save
the settings.
I got mine working by restoring the drive with 1.3 WB files and the Janus
files, then re-installing WB 2.0. There's probably an easier way, but that
was suggested to me by someone who's seen the problem several times, and it
worked.

Don,
I thought the install program for the BB didn't work with 2.04 and the
PCPrefs program I have gurus under 2.04. My BB works fine w/2.04 but I
haven't disturbed it.
….Mark Sterling 74335,1677
Mark,
I've since learned that.
There are ways around that…but it requires a cooperative dealer
who has a BB equipped A2000 and it's still got the 1.2 or 1.3 ROM
installed. You simply go to your dealer's and install the necessary files
and preferences onto a floppy and then copy that floppy to your HD at home.
Don
I figured it would take something like that. I will probably not disturb
my working BB until the new Janus version comes out with the fixes. I
really depend on it working every day at my business. It is nice to have
two machines in one box on my desk.

Don,
What GURU? I just installed the software on my A3000 under 2.04 and it
ran fine and appears to run fine. Are you saying I can expect a crash?
Bruce H.
-Via Whap!
Bruce,
Never tried it under the disk based version of 2.04, under the
ROM'ed version with an A2500/20…PCPrefs crashes.
Don
Pat,
Yes, it works, but you may have to move the binddrivers command. Some
people repeat it at the beginning and end of the startup-sequence.
Don't try to re-install the Bridgeboard software–the install program
doesn't work.

Pat,
I've got the AT bridgeboard installed with 2.04 ROM and the 2.0 Janus
software. Works the same as with 1.3 ROMs, at least so far.
