QB upgrade

Daniel, Starting January 1, 1992 all updates through New Horizons Software, Inc. require $5 for shipping. Please note that updates are considered the free, or bug fix, updates, like from Quarterback 4.0 to 4.3. Upgrades, on the other hand, have not changed in price, so the upgrade from Quarterback 2.3 to 4.3 is still $10. We are just asking that the cost of shipping be handled by the user now. Of course there was a bit on leniency in the first week or so of January. Your upgrade will be processed this week. Mark New Horizons Software, Inc.

Mark, I currently have QB 4.0. (serial 10694). Can you check that I am on your database? I would like to upgrade at some point, but don't mind waiting until the new delivery in March (or whenever). I occasionally get bitten by the floppies-not-being-released-under-2.04 problem, but it's tolerable until then. Goodness! I never realised I was so far behind the times! Mark, I heard that Quarterback 5.0 is available. I have 4.1. Now that I've upgraded to a 210-meg Quantum HD, I didn't want to back up to floppy anymore. I bought a Wangtek tape backup from TTR and I am very dissatisfied with their products and their service. I've had the tape unit since 11/91 and I still haven't been able to back up my hard drive with their software, MR Backup Professional. I was thinking of returning everything to TTR for a refund, but apparently GVP and Moonlighter Software, the only other companies I know that sell tape backups for the Amiga, also sell the Wangtek tape units. The problem with a tape unit not working lies in the software and the tape handler that accompanies it. As such, I'd like to know if the latest version of Quarterback will work with a 150-meg Wangtek tape drive and a 210-meg Quantum hard drive connected to an IVS GrandSlam board? I also gave a GVP 33-MHz Combo Board in my A2500. I also need to know if your software will allow me to Append more than one backup to the same tape cartridge. I have 4 hard drive partitions, and want to back them all up to the same tape. If the latest version of QB will allow this, please advise as to the upgrade procedure from v. 4.1 of QB. If the software doesn't currently support tape backup, do you know if it eventually will and when? Thanks. Dom Fontana

Dominick, You will not be able to use Quarterback 4.1 to do the backup to tape. You will need to wait until 5.0 becomes available in a couple of months. Still, we do not have a Wangtek 150M drive, so I couldn't tell you whether it works or not. We will try to get our hands on a Wangtek drive to find out if it will work with QB 5.0. If not, we'll see what we can do to make it work. Mark New Horizons Software, Inc.
