Valued members, I need your help (again you say!) The BC Place stadium here in Vancouver has just obtained an Amiga and will be using it on the BIG scoreboard to do the neat things like the touchdown graphics, etc. They have Genlock, but as you and I know, it sucks for pro-quality work. Does anyone know the name of the company that sells the REA<L genlock for the Amiga? It is quite an experience to be drawing on a screen, and having it show up across a stadium in real time, on a 40 foot screen!!! Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Also, has anyone seen Caligary (Or even Caligari) lately? What is happening with them? Bri

Hi again…. I spoke with the marketing guy for Octree Software a coup'la weeks ago, and at that time Caligari was still in the oven. They think they will ask about $8000 (!) for it when it's done. On a better note, I have the demo for Aegis Videoscape, which is their answer to Caligari. There's an articleon it with some screen shots in the current INFO magazine.

Joanne, First of all, welcome to the forum. Having seen the demo tape of Caligari, and not having seen anything of Videoscape, I have nothing to compare. In your opinion, is Videoscape a good substitute for Caligari? I was impressed with the demo tape, but certainly not $8000 worth.

Hi…. thanks for the note. Darned tootin', Videoscape looks like it compares quite favorably to Caligari. The only thing missing so far, according to Rick at Aegis, is the ability to automatically "click" the vtr on each frame. However, if enough ram is present (1 to 1-1/2 megs) and not too many polygons are included in the scene, Aegis claims it will provide up to 5 seconds of real time animation (not wire frame) at a time. I'm gonna run out and buy it….
