#Starglider

Steven, I think I'll just have to leave it at different. The Amiga effects
seem much more tame than the ST version. In the ST version you know your in a
war… the Amiga version might be better off named The Faery Tale Starglider.
I heard that Jez San had farmed out all of the sound and music work to another
company… Anyway, that's my opinion… Check it out yourself… It's still one
of the best games out! John
What Bullshit!! No part of StarGlider was 'farmed out' as you put it!
A composer (Dave Lowe) scored the title music…. but that was the only
subcontracting we did! Myself and Richard Clucas wrote StarGlider… and we
both are part of Argonaut Software (as are a few others).
The Sound Effects may seem tame by the ST standards, only because they are more
realistic. In fact, we sampled explosions and other sounds from REAL
explosions.. how much more REAL can they get!??? You might have got the
impression that the ST one was more vicious sounding, only because the ST's
sound chip is limited and there is no expression.. its either a BOOM, or not a
BOOM. Also, there is always a problem trying to sample the appropriate sound
effects… this was the hardest part of the StarGlider conversion… the
creative part. Programming itself was a relatively straightforward part!
Are you pleased with the speed improvements we made!? (we estimate about 20%
faster)

Calm down Jez….
I distinctly remember you saying in CO, "It's been sent out to have the sound
done."
Though the meaning may have been clear to you, it is easy to see how it could
have been misinterpreted.
Looking forward to seeing it.
Regards, Larry.
