#Larn opts
4 messages in this thread
Hi!
I've just started Larn, and I'm stuck as how to use .larnopts
to change name, level, etc. In the help file it shows larn-o. I've tried all
the alt, shift, and function keys, and I'll be darned if I can find a key with
larn printed on it. So if someone could tell be how to access the larn key I
would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Reed
Reed,
"larn -o" refers to a command line, not a key. When you start the program
with a parameter of "-o", the ".larnopts" file will be referenced.
Regards, Larry.
Larry,
I tried starting the program by typing in Larn-o, instead of just Larn,
and I got a unknown command error. Should there be a space between Larn and
the "-o"? The game is great! Only problem is icons are so small
it is difficult to differentiate what they are.
Thanks,
Reed
Reed,
As Larry has indicated, the -o is a command line switch, but you don't have to
use it.
If you will bring .larnopts into your editor, you can change all the data in
it: character name, skip introduction, bell disabling, etc. Save the modified
.larnopts file, and the next time you run Larn, the new character information
will be used.
The -o option is only needed if you like toggling back and forth between
characters or options. For example, you could have the characters Rocco,
Merlin, and Shen, with an option file (by character name) for each. Then you
can select your character by typing Larn -oRocco, Larn -oMerlin, or Larn
-oShen.
Hope this helps!
