John: Well, somehow Don and our Adv/P.R. guy managed to leave our Ad out of the next issue of Amazing. They were arguing about the 70% rate increase Don has decided to impose on us and somehow the deadline went past. Oh well, we were just going to repeat the last ad anyway! But it did hack me off a bit. Note: The new rates would make your CPM 30% higher that Amiga World. I think there may be some justification for that, but 70% is quite a shock to anyone's ad budget. (Especially when the rate increase is announced and becomes effective in the same month!) And the 30% premium over Amiga World is hard to swallow. John, I know you have nothing to do with this part of the Mag. but maybe you can talk some sense into Don. A small company just can't afford that kind of extra expense without some advance warning. Yow! I used to live with an ad manager, so I even know that CPM isn't CP/M… How do you figure this? What is AmigaWorld's actual circulation these days? Last time I checked, it was about 60K, because they lose about 40K in returns. Amazing's press run is about 30K, and that all ships, except for about 2K for back issues. Not to brag… OK, to brag… Last issue's returns were 13. Just thirteen issues. I actually don't know the ad cost for each magazine, so you give me the numbers, and we'll plug them in together.
