On their lastest album B-Oingo, in the list of credits there is a thanks to
Commodore for the Amiga. Does anyone know what they used the Amiga for
other than possibley playing games and watching different versions of
Boing! with? In case you have not heard of them Oingo Boingo is a LA rock
band kind of along the lines of the Talking Heads. They have two albums out
and did the title track for Weird Science. They are pretty good and one of
my current fave raves.
Oingo Boingo uses Aegis Animator and other software products to create
video's and effects for their live shows. I'm surprised that you think that
they would only use the Amiga for "playing games and watching different
versions of Boing!" The Amiga is being used EVERYWHERE for videos and video
effects. Just a partial list… Videos:
Timbuck III … "the future's so brite I gotta where shades.." Tom Petty
…. new video using amiga several times. Parlement … "do ya wanna shake
with those fries…" TV: Amazing Stories World Cup Of Soccer And other
shows. This is just the beginning of a healthy "Desktop Video" market. Lots
more to come.
Oh, shucks! They were in Cleveland last night! Stupid local newspapers
didn't think anybody would be interested and I didn't find out about the
concert until 2 hours before. Having a 1 hour drive, and not knowing the
location, I passed it up. But I saw them in Phoenix a few years ago.
They're really innovative; if they're using the Amiga the way they used to
play, it would be both interesting and weird. BTW, Oingo Boingo has seven
or eight albums out; but I think only the last two were pushed on the East
Coast. … Brian

Charlie Unkeless, the lights and sound guy for Oingo Boingo, is good
friends with Jeff Bruette, who was the technical director for the Amazing
