#Questron, etc…

Changing the thread. Faery readers were getting restless! Called couple of
Mail Order houses on Alien Fires. One said next week. The other said in the
fall. Which should I believe? I'll find out next week! Don't tease me about
Questron being a good game! I've been anxious to play it for too long. Booted
up Sinbad, and may be able to play the game after all. I'm trying very hard to
ignore the two dimensional drawings and enyoy the three dimensionsal ones.
Wonder if there were different artists? Andy
Well… Since I've seen messages from people claiming to have it already, I'd
assume that "next week" is the more likely… I spent an inordinate amount of
time on Sinbad, but got quite frustrated after a while with too many
earthquakes… Maybe after I've calmed down and polished off a few more RPG's,
I'll go back to it… As for Questron, I'm *STILL* waiting for the long
(…VERY long…) promised Questron II…

SSI does seem to have a habit of announcing vaporware, don't they? The new
Amiga World does have a splash page showing Legends (a Micro-Illusions Bard's
Tale Alike). I'm exploring Sinbad…but not real enthusiastically. I don't know
why certain games grab me and others don't. In other words…it ain't grabbing
me. For the Mac, the best game for me is called Strategic Conquest. I have
spent days and days with the game. Each one is brand new. (A process of winning
a wo world with Battleships, Bombers, Armies, Submarines, Planes, Transports,
Escorts, Destoyers (Not Escorts…Destroyers). There are 15 levels. I've been
playing regularly at level 12. I can't win and 13-15. I wasn't able to win at
12, but now win 1 out of four or five. One game takes as long as 36 hours or
more! (Or as short as an hour or two when you know you're hopelessly beaten and
give up.) It hasn't been ported to any other Computer that I know of, although
I don't see why there couldn't be an Amiga version. (Small company). –andy
Steve and Andy, I just got Legacy of the Ancients for my C64, (needed a game
fix as Andy said) and if its not by the same programmer as Questron I'll eat my
disk. The interface is almost an exact match and the gameplay is very similar
(gambling in towns, robbing town merchants etc.) Gave my copy of Questron away
so cant verify but Legacy is by Chuck and John Dougherty. Of course this came
out thru EA so I can see why its not Questron II, copywrights being what they
are.
Later,
Mike
Yep. Chuck & John Dougherty were involved with Questron… I'll have to pick
this one up and dust off the old C64…

Expecting Legacy by UPS blue tommorow. Advertising was so compelling I was
unable to stop my hand from reaching for my Visa card and purchasing it. Come
to think of it it does look a bit like Questron but with a major revamp of the
look of the Dungeons. Should be mutilating monsters and such by tommorow night.
Alien Fires shipped last week. I ordered direct from Jagware. They sent it
special delivery, so it takes 5 or 6 days. Hope the wait was worthwhile.
Thanks Marc! Would love to know both if the game IS worthwhile, and the number
of Jagware! –Andy
Jagware's number is 1-800-267-1904. Alas the game is not here yet so a review
wii have to remain pending.
Thanks Marc for the prompt reply! I know you are anxiously waiting for the
game. Here's hoping it's not a dissapointment to you! (You have played Faery
Tale Adventure, haven't you? That definitely wasn't a dissapointment!) Andy
