#Modula-2/vd0: problems

Has anybody had problems using TDI's modula-2 system with all files in vd0:? I
have 5Meg of ram so I load everything into vd0: (M2:,workfiles, etc.). I have
used two different vd0: drivers and have had problems with both. On the first
one, Modula-2 could not find any of my files and on the second one (ASDG-RAM) I
get continuous Read/Write error requesters after using it for a while. Things
seem to work OK in RAM:. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian
It is not possible that you have tried two different VD0: drivers since I
released only on into shareware. The other version is available only to ASDG
customers direct from ASDG. The TDI package was been noted in several places to
corrupt memory. This may be what you are seeing but then again, maybe not.

Well, I use TDI M2 ver 3.00 with vd0: and I have no problem at all. Since I do
NOT have 5 meg wht I do is just load the M2: directory (stripped down a bit)
into vd0: and make the compiler resident (using the resident command). Works
like a charm.
Strange the Perry says there's only one version of VD0: around. I've
downloaded two different files from the same BBS which contained the ASDG RRD
package. Both *looked* ok, but only one worked with my system (I have a 1 Meg
Starboard2). I never found out why the other file didn't work; I just
discarded it. So what gives, Perry?

Can't tell you why you were able to find two “versions.'' I can only
tell you that I released exactly one version into shareware. Two versions of
the ram disk *do* exist however. Version 2.2 is for ASDG memory product owners
and Version 3.0 is for shareware. Maybe it is possible an owner of ASDG memory
boards put his/her own version up on a BBS? Version 2.2 will not work unless an
ASDG memory product is present on your system.

Another possibility… your first posting to Usenet had a couple of problems
in one or two of the programs. Could be that one.

Aha! Maybe that's what happened. The version that didn't work complained that
it couldn't find VD0:

I have 2 meg of RAM, and use ASDG-RAM, and only very occasionally
have the read-write error show up. It seems like it shows up when I
try to call up a program the compiler is compiling with an editor.
