#ARP and 1.3
29 messages in this thread
You can always use both…
For 1.3, while I didn't go ahead and add wildcarding to each CLI command,
counting on the availability of either ARP or something like arp.library for
V1.4, I did clean up the command syntax, and upgrade the commands.

Did you fix rename, Andy??? and OpenLibrary?
You'll have to refresh my memory on exactly what bug(s) you're talking about;
then I can tell if I fixed them. A 'grep' on the Blish name in the bug
database didn't turn them up 🙂

In rename, it's impossible to rename file "zIOD" to file "Zoid". Since the
system is case sensitive in it's file handling, you should be able to do
that; _or_ for instance, the case sensitivity in OpenDevice and so on,
OpenLibrary (I think), are bugs. Since one HAS to go thru the following
proceedure at times:
rename zIOD to dingle
rename dingle to Zoid
Either the filesystem or the rename command needs to be fixed, IMHO. Later!

Ben,
Ah…I have no problem renaming 'cis' to 'Cis' (a script file that
starts things up and logs me onto here). What have you been feeding your
Amiga lately?
Don
just plain vanilla 1.2, is all – and it does NOT work from the workbench.

Ben,
Ah…ok, I was doing it from the CLI, I haven't had WorkBench up and
running for months.

I just (ugh!) did a LoadWB, opened my :utilities window, Clicked on "More",
hit Rename from the menu, changed the "M" to "m" — worked just fine.

You running 1.3 or something? I just tried it and got the same old thing
I've gotten since day one:
1> Rename ppns PPNS
Can't rename ppns as PPNS
Why
Last command failed because object in use
So what am I doing wrong or you doing different?
Rick
I just tried it from CLI and WB; it _is_ working…. dunno when that started,
but it does work, so I withdraw my gripe.

Vanilla 1.2 works fine for me (just tested it to be sure).

Ben, Ummmmmm….I just did a rename "c" to file "C" with no problems. No
pronlems doing your "zOID" to "Zoid" either. What version of the OS or C
command are you using? 🙂

Andy,
Thanks much for the info. Good to hear. You're quite right,
I *can* always use both (and, in fact, do).
Hope my message didn't sound too harsh; I have a tendency to do
that at times.
Thanks again.
