I have some text files that I can't read with Scribble! They were transferred from a C-64 disk with "The 64-Emulator" transfer program, under the "PET>ASCII" option. I know that there is text in there — in CLI I can use "TYPE" and everything comes out fine. However, when I try to load the file in Scribble!, nothing at all shows up. (When I tried to use "ED" from CLI, it said "file contains binary.") Any ideas?

Don, I think there is a PD program around for stripping out 'binary' from a text file (somebody know where?). I highly recomend "TxEd" as a text editor, it will load/edit/save text OR binary files and also has a handy "strip" option for stripping out non-text_only type chars. Keith

SoftCircuit's FixText is very good. It's in DL 9.

Steve: Fixtext did the job perfectly! With the text of 7 novels, countless short stories and four years oif correspondence waiting to be transferred from the C-64 to the Giant Space Amiga, you can see why I'm relieved. Thanks very much for your help! –Don

Don't thank me — thank Ben Blish for writing a very fast and easy to use tool!
