Some suggestions: Try using "Tall" (rather than "Tall Adjusted") in the "Page
Setup" requester. Try using better looking fonts (in conjunction with the
above). For example, try using Granite-15 or Marble-15 or Opal fonts.
Oh, the "venetian blind effect" will go away with CBM's final release of
Workbench 1.3–they've added a new feature to effectively synthesize pseudo
18 and 24 pin quality from some of the drivers, including the EpsonX. This is
done by making two or more passes with the 9 pin print head, the second (and
other) pass being stepped a half of a pin size (or so) down. The result still
won't be as good as a true 24 pin printer (the pins will be larger for a
coarser image for one thing), but will definitely be better than the 9 pin
graphics output you are currently getting. As soon as the final WB 1.3 is
out we will start shipping with this new stuff (our current license agreement
only allows up to ship with the stuff we got a few months ago).

I'm very pleased with the new smoothing of the printouts. I also like the
new driver for Toshiba's. It runs my older P351 just fine. I do get a
venetian blind effect however, even with my 24 pins, if I'm talking about the
same thing: that lighter line every few lines. Will the next set of drivers
help me, too. Since it doesn't sound like an "official" upgrade, will I be
able to get it?

Aha! That sounds more like it – like some of the stuff I've seen in the
other programs I've mentioned (making more than one pass).
I will tell the customer to try using tall. Also, the "smoothing" option
that you recommended is not available with the Epson 9 pin driver. It's
ghosted out.
