#Mac to Amiga Transfer
7 messages in this thread
Our company uses the Amiga to design textiles using Deluxe Paint. We are
interested in transfering Mac bitmap files (such as MacPaint type files) to
and from Amiga IFF format. Are there any utilities that allow us to do
this? Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks, Philip Kahn
Phillip,
Somewhere (maybe here in DL 6?) there is a program that will let you
'veiw' MAC pics called something like "MACVIEW2" if you find that, you could
transfer the files via modem, view them and while viewing use a 'screen grab'
prgm to save it as IFF (should also be one of those around). GreG? do you
know where to find all these ingredients?

I thought I would put in my two cents worth. There is a
"Universal" graphics format called GIF it is a scheme for converting what
ever the main types of graphic files from one machine and handing them over
to another. Ive converted from IBM to Amiga and MAC to Amiga. No reason
you shouldnt be able to do so also. Plus you will need to modem files back
and forth. I suggest putting the machines together in the same room and
xfering with YMODEM at 9600 baud.

Philip, Keith suggested a way to view MAC pictures on the Amiga and then
SAVE that displayed picture in IFF format. The files you will need can be
found in LIB 16. They are MACVU2.ARC, MVUPAT.ARC, and SAVEIF.ARC. Also
suggested to you was the GIF format. That would be ideal for you.
Especially if you want to transfer both ways. You can find the associated
GIF files for the AMiga and the MAC at the PICS FORUM, LIB1. GO PICS to
get there. May I also suggest a program in LIB 16 here, called
MASTER.ARC. Master Weave lete you use the Amiga to create weave patterns.
You find it usefull in creating weave patterns on the AMiga.
