Turbo help
4 messages in this thread
I am new to Turbo and the computer artist scene and I am having no
luck with T.S.. I can't even load the objects in the objects drawer or the
supplied fonts. The manual's 10 pages of introduction ran out too quick
for me, I all of a sudden found myself into more reference material then I
could handle. Is there any other help material other then the video (which
I will order tomarrow). All I have been able to succed in is rendering
some mean shaded shperes (taking about 10 minuets). Any help would be
appreciated.
David, I sympathize with your learning curve. It sounds like you are
trying to load either 1) CELLS data as OBJECT data, or 2) OBJECT data as
CELLS data. The distintion took me some time to become intuitive. Assuming
you are using Turbo Silver 3.0, you need to go into the editor, then to the
SETTINGs menu option, then choose LOAD, in order to load an OBJECT. Then
you can select that object, and use the SETTINGS/ATTRIBUTES requestor to
modify its color shading, etc (or just click till its green and move it
around) Simple once you;ve done it a few hundred times. I'm curious about
the tapes too… was going to order one, but thought I'd wait and see what
the reviews were.. good luck… (at least you're here where Stan can help..
he always responds so quickly and completely.) –jp–
Thanxs for your help. I have figured out the loading not that my 3D
object library is very big, but I will work on that one in the future. I
do have one more question I will tease your brain with: I have created a
tube and left it in its origanal oritantation (so its z axis is up and
down) and I am attemping to wrap a brush around it and spin it on the
tube's z axis. The problem that I seem to have is that when I pick the
brush axis that is grouped and clustered to the tube and rotate that then
the rotation takes place on the side of the tube. When I pick the tube
itself then the tube rotates but the brush axis does not. I tryed to pick
the tube and group it to the brush axis but the program says "already the
child of a picked….) or something like that. Any suggjestions? Thanxs
for your help and I hope that I am no bother. I really am amazed at the
things that I have already been able to succed in doing and I look forward
to mastering the program and someday maybe I will be a self taught (with as
much help as I can find, of course) computer artist/render (I am a little
lost for words there. I sure can't draw so I really can't say artist). I
hope one day to beable to create titles and scenes to use in videos and the
likes. Thanx again, David
David, After creating, joining, clustering, etc., the brush and object, add
an axis to the center of the object where you want it to rotate, select it
and then select the brush, then JOIN. The axis then becomes the parent; if
you rotate the axis, everything will follow.
