I found out the fax number you posted had a transposed number. The correct
number is 407-384-9391 (you had 9319).

I would like to know why all the messages I leave with any type of
commercial asspect are moved to a private section, but Chris is allowed to
out right ADVERTISE for a company selling tape drives.
If I were to leave such info it would be gone in 5 minutes. But this is at
least the third I have seen not only pricing but an address and phone #.
They may be selling refurb drives, but they DO come with a warranty, and
brand NEW software. So why isn't this being regulated?

You asking me why? A person asked for info on tape drive, I gave it to
him. I don't own the company, make a commission, or own stock. I don't
even have a Viper Tape Drive, I use a GVP Wangtek 5150ES paid like $500
for it in an external case and you can call them at:

If someone asked for info on 486 BB upgrades, I'd probably (maybe) mention
to them to ask you at Elite MicroComputers, but since your in here all the
time I mostly would figure you'd pick up on it and use E-mail.
When I was operating an Amiga service bureau and typesetter, I didn't
advertise my prices in here. I did use E-mail to send info to people who
asked for it. I never sent it unsolicited.
Maybe I should add disclaimer? I am not affiliated with any of the above
mentioned companies, I make NO commisions, gifts or receive any
renumerations of any kind for any information I may supply. Buyers should
be aware that it is their choice if they make a purchase and should
understand it is on them if it doesn't work out. <grin>

he has _no_ vested interest. Chris is in no way connected with
Moonlighter, and he is not advertising, but rather sharing information he
has in response to a question asked by another user, just like him.

the difference? CIS is not a place to hawk commercial wares, unless you
have a place in AmigaVendor.

My point is….it seems the policies of CI$, aren't really fair…..If I
had a buddu of mine calling he could push my products like crazy, but if I
mention anything about a price I'm solicitating people…like I'm selling
drugs or something. Isn't Chris solicitating when he pushes one company
that hard?

That's not the point. Chris has nothing to gain by recommending a vendor
or a product. He is an end user, with experience or opinion that he is
sharing.
A dealer, on the other hand, while possibly very informed and experienced,
looses credibility when recommending something and then offering to sell
it.
I don't sell products I don't believe in…..

Chris has no vested interest in the company he suggested, no fault there.
If you got a friend to push a product that you're selling, it would be
wrong, because you told that friend to do it and that friend would be
acting like an agent of your company. If that friend did it of his own
accord, then it would be ok as long as it didn't get out of hand. If
someone started quoting prices on products and we suspected that he or she
was working with a dealer, we'd pull those notices. We've done it before,
and we'd do it again.

The person in question has been a member of the Amiga forums for a long
time. We know him from the way that he has acted in our forum. He never
entered these hallowed bitpaths with an attitude, nor did he ever do
anything here to arouse any suspicion or antagonism. In other words, this
person has established and developed a feeling of trustworthyness and
honor among the people he has been dealing with here.
You on the other hand, well, we're just out to get you. <grin>

number away somewhere. I have a Viper from Moonlighter that I am
basically happy with, but may want to resell anyway, if I do indeed get
the floptical that my wife and I are thinking about.

Dave I looked up the Archive 2150 in my Archive catalog, and it is listed
as a Archive Viper series 150 meg backup…

Forrest: I'm using an Archive Viper 2150, and I can assure you that it
does in fact backup 250 meg to a 3M DC 6250 250 meg tape.
It will do 250megs on extended tapes (DC 6250). These tapes only cost about
$5 more then the 150 meg tapes (about $35). No trick to use them
either….just pop one in and the drive will recognize it.
