Joel – Thanks for the reply. The machine Showiz doesn't work on is a standard Amiga 2000, with a CSA 020/882 20 MHz, CSA DragStrip w 4MB 32 Bit Ram and 3MB 16 bit CBM Ram. The program doesn't Guru, but when invoked, from either WB or CLI, it starts, the screen fades properly, and then you are just returned to the WB or CLI screen. I also tried turning the CACHE off on the 020 card and that did not help either. Thanks again, and let me know it there is a fix. . Stan

Stan: I have the CBM 020/mmu/881 board with 2 megs of 32 bit ram, the CBM old-style 2 meg (16 bit board) and the standard 1 meg from the Amiga 2000 itself. Showiz runs fine on this system (& I have SetCPU invoked to run the ROM in 32 bit RAM). ?|^] Ray Lewis

Ray – Mabey it's the goofy CSA Dragstrip that is screwing things up. I'll have to try it on a plain ole 2500 this week and see if it reacts the same. . Stan

Must be nice to call an A2500 a "plain ole 2500" ! [grin] chris

Chris – it's just one of the horrid things you have to put up with, having to keep a variety of different machines and configurations going to make sure the software and hardware works on all of them. . for a sizeable investment you too can become an Amiga developer! . Stan

Well if someone were to look around our offices, they'd probably would think that we were Amiga developers and not an end-user. [grin] 'course there isn't an A2500 here, yet! chris

Stan, Let me know what you find out about ShoWiz and the 2500. I'm collecting the comments and sending them to the author. He may not be able to do much about it as I believe he is still on an A1000, but at least he'll be able to consider the problem. Ofrgive me for asking the obvious but having made similar mistakes myself before…. when you invoked ShoWiz, were you in the directory with picture files? wmc

Wayne – Thanks for the help with Showiz. I tried it both ways on both machines, from it's own subdirectory on a HD and from a floppy, and the results were the same. It works just fine on the 1000, and doesn't at all on the modified 2000. <–Stan

Stan, Very bizaar about ShoWiz not working on the mod'd 2K. It likes mine fine, but I've got no accelerators or coprocessors or flicker masters… just 2 meg and a GVP SCSI hd. Curiouser and curiouser…. wmc

Wayne – DOn't know what the problem is. I have to assume it's the CSA Dragstrip. But I'll check it with some more machines this week. . Stan

Wayne, I already gave all the ShoWiz comments posted here (and in AmigaTech) to Jeff. (I talk to him pretty often either in person, by phone, or modem; he's the Prez of our local user group.) Ray Lewis says it works fine on his '020 Amiga. But do send him any comments or suggestions you feel appropriate anyway. The more comments he receives, the more inclined he'll be to keep adding & improving ShoWiz. He did tell me he's much more inclined to consider suggestions when accompanied by money. 🙂 (I've already given him my donation and told him I'll give him some more if he adds support for color cycling and super bitmaps.) -Joel

Joel, When I talked to him, I couldn't think of anything to add or change since the script and calls to other software give about all the flexibility I can use. However, I have yet to run into one of the superbit maps you referred to and have never tried to use color cycling stuff in a presentation. wmc P.S. Did they tear down all those wonderful old buildings on Nebraska out by the Jai Alai fronton (or was it a dog track) in Sulphur Springs?
