Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. (will shoot myself after I post
this)
All service centers were sent the following information in their
TechTopics:
A new set of ROMs for both the A2620 and A2630 have been released and will
be available (to service centers) through the parts department. The new
part numbers are 390282-04 and 390283-04.
The new ROMs correct the Autoconfig and out of memory errors.
New ROMs are available (to service centers) for the A2091 from the parts
department. These new TOMS are used in both the A2091 and the A590.
part numbers: 390722-01 IC ROM ODD REV 6.1
390721-01 IC ROM EVEN REV 6.1
This prevents illegal reads and writes to location zero of Amiga working
storage which some third party application software attempts.
This is considered an in-line change, and is not covered under warranty.

Before you shoot yourself, answer me this. I understand there is a ROM
upgrade for the 2088 as well. What is it for? The local authorized dealer
here got the spec. sheets for the other ROM upgrades but didn't get one for
the 2088 upgrade. Any ideas?

The A2088 ROM upgrade (part number 380788-06) fixes Auto-Configure errors
caused by some third party software and hardware. (paraphrased from
Techtopics).

Don't put the blame on the XT BB Roms on third parties…. In addition to
the new -04 ROMs for the A2630, you need the -06 BB ROMS as Well!
Otherwise, you get a very unstable BB.

not have to use the OFS partition, support LUNs, and a more compliant SCSI
passthru?

Shoot yourself, naw, I'm a big enough pain, if you put up with me you've
done more than enough! 🙂 Thanks much for the ROM numbers, can get my
dealer here to at least attemp to order them. With some prodding they
should be able to get them. They don't even want to get a 3000 for the
store, I'm pushing hard for that one. Keep your fingers crossed for me,
that way you can't put then on the gun!!! Thanks for all your help, it is
greatly appreciated, good to have you here!

Ok, I get the picture! Keep those fingers on the keyboard! Actuall being
an owner of several firearms I should have figured you'd nail me with that
one! I do have another problem here or the dealer seems to anyway.
My dealer, the only one here really, is a Software City store and they
handle all hardware but they aren't a service center for Commodore
equipment. When the manager of the store here called Commodore in
California to order the new ROMs for me he was told they couldn't order
them until they became an authorized service center. He then told the
dealer here they had to fill out a bunch of paperwork to become authorized
and THEN they could order the ROMs. I couldn't believe it! All I want is
four ROM chips and they can't even order them.
Is there some way you can fix this situation or help in some way? I'm
trying to get the dealer to order a 3000 since he'd be the only one in town
who had one but with the hassles he's had with Commodore he's not likely
to. Is there any way I can order the chips directly from West Chester?
Someone I can talk to to get help for t local dealer? I guess anything
would help. We have only two other dealers in the STATE and they are 120
miles away!
Thanks in advance for anything you can do to help. I just wish things
would go smoother between the local dealer and Commodore, maybe I could
talk him into buying that 3000!
