#Mackie 1.4
8 messages in this thread
Hi Betty
I am just writing to remind you about uploading Mackie 1.4 from Fred
Fish disk 305.
I have found out more about the reason why that disk and several others
have been temporarily pulled. Apparently the American distributor of Tetris
has launched legal action against programs that look and feel like Tetris.
So Fred Fish has temporarily agreed to stop distributing all disks that
have Tetris clones on them, until the legalities are resolved. Thus FF-305
is no longer available because of a lookalike program called Obsess, this
unfortunately affects the other programs that are on those disks.(ie Mackie
1.4) I have tried to contact the Software Distillery which put out Mackie
but theyre phone number is no longer working or has changed.
If you can upload it, I would really appreciate it. This particular
program has some nice features I have not seen in other programs. It has a
screen blanker with colored patterns but it's most useful feature is a hot
key utility that can issue intuition commands so that you can bring a
screen or window to front or start other programs. (something like Scripit)
Thanks in advance.

If memory serves me, Spectrum Holobyte is the American distributer for
"Tetris". Perhaps we should ask their representative for clarification. I
think their 'handle' is No. 19 … I don't remember the PPN tho.
Victor A. Wagner, Jr.
I saved their name in my book a while back since they are an interesting
company. I haven't had anything to say to them yet tho.

No. 19 , Marisa (I think is the rep's name)
I always end up accumulating thing I haven't any use for, I'm glad it came
into use for someone ,anyway.

I dont care very much what happens regarding Tetris or its clones all I
want is version 1.4 of Mackie that unfortunatley is on the disk that has
one of these Tetris clones, so it is unavailable until the legal stuff is
sorted out.
If anyone has it could they please upload it. Thanks.

How they heck do you tell which version you've got? I'd send you my copy,
but it doesn't identify its version anywhere.

John,
For the Deep Thought BBS (Software Distillary) try (919)382-8265

Kelly, it tells you what Rev it is in the docs that were included in the
Archive it came in. The first version I have came from Compuserve and was
version 1.3. It also will tell you what version it is if you start mackie
from the command line. (mackie -fs:.mackierc). This fires up mackie and
shows a start up line but also doesnt release the cli. So the normal
startup I use is (runback utilities:mackie -fs:.mackierc) this allows
mackie to detach from the cli.
The most recent release I have seen is 1.4 on Fred Fish 305,
unfortunatley this disk is not in wide distribution and has been currently
halted until a legal problem with an unrelated program on the same disk is
resolved. If you have the current version I sure would appreciate it if you
would upload it. Thanks for your interest.

Thanks for the tip I will try that number, the number that was listed in
the docs seems to be out of service or disconnected.
