L.A. It looks GREAT………

I haven't seen ANY ads for Babylon 5. Did the ad say when it was gonna be
on?

Babylon 5 airs the end of February,Paramounts Deep Space 9 airs

Depends on the part of the country you're in. Channel 13 here in Los
Angeles is saying Deep Space 9 airs Jan 5th ..thanks for the B5 start
tho.
Since it's a syndicated show, Deep Space Nine is going to air at
different times in different areas. Here in the Ft. Lauderdale area
it airs on January 4th on one channel, and January 9th on another.
As for Babylon 5….I still don't have a good time nailed down for
that one. I heard something somewhere that it'll be on the 20th of
January in this area.
What channel has it on the 4th, and which one has it on the 9th?
January 4th – Channel 29 8pm
January 9th – Channel 6 11:30 pm
January 10th – Channel 29 4pm
Those are the dates for the DSN premier in the Ft Lauderdale area.
DS9 will regularly air at TNG's old slot: Sat. at 7 on channels 6 and 29
TNG is moving to:
Sun at 6:00 pm on channel 29
Mon at 7:00 pm on channel 6
Is that Channel 29 WFLX the Fox sation?
Yes, WFLX Channel 29 is a Fox station.
There's a big article in next week's TV guide about all the
upcomming SF shows. It says Babylon 5 is due February 22.
Thanks! I just found out that the SCI-FI forum has some info in
it's library 10. They have a "Frequently Asked Questions" file, a
list of stations that will carry the show, and soforth.
I'll have to take a look in the SF forum more often. I usually stop there
once in a while to get the uplink schedule for Star Trek.

Yep, also saw a commercial for Babylon 5 for KSTW Channel 11 in Seattle.
So I'll have my VCR ready for the primiere showing!

record Babylon 5?

Rick, I'll have to watch KSTW a little more to get the date, but if I
remember right, January 17th seemed to be the date of the first
showing.
I just watched DS9 off the satellite feed. SUPERB. Much better than
the ST:TNG pilot was. If Bablyon 5 is as much better than DS9 as its
proponents claim, we're in for a treat.
Must be nice to have your own satellite dish to pick up the feed for
DS9. I wonder if my apartment manager would notice a 10 foot dish on
the roof? Maybe I could camaflouge it in some way 8^)
Did you like the DS9 story? I've heard scattered reports in the SciFi
Forum that the 2 hour pilot was pretty good. (In fact, if you like such
things, the SciFi Forum is chock full of information. I would imagine
once Babylon 5 is shown there will be a lot of Amiga/Toaster questions.)

Yep, I liked the DS9 story a LOT better than I'd expected to. After the
TNG pilot (Encounter at Farpoint) I wasn't expecting a whole lot. But the
years of experience doing TNG really show. Good story with some science
fiction elements (pretty rare in TNG-era Trek, really), and good acting as
well. And wonderful effects–make sure you don't miss the first five
minutes!
Denny, did you watch the same show that I did? They had an opportunity for
something interesting and then just dropped everything (trying to say
without spoiling it for anyone). Not trying to start a fight, but I was
quite disappointed with it, perhaps I was expecting too much.

I guess I wasn't expecting much at all, so I was pleasantly surprised.
Great science fiction it's not. But alas I tend to lower my standards when
watching TV SF…
Thanks for the tip on DS9's first 5 minutes. Pretty good! I noticed a
little trick they pulled in the escape pod scene to intergrate the model
in the shot. They had another pod cross over to block the view of the
shuttle bay for a second in order to slip in the model effects. The story
didn't explain everything (like why the "runabout" was towing the
Cardassian ship at the end. The models were not in correct proportion
either.) I mostly liked the actors especially the Bajoran major and, as
always, O'Brian. All in all pretty good. I liked it better than ST:TNG's
first 2 hour episode "Encounter At Far Point."
And DS9 beat the pants off of "Space Rangers" (it was so bad that you
can't even call it a joke!).

I really REALLY tried to watch Space Rangers but I couldn't keep my
interest! It was so dull I started channel surfing after about 15
minutes.

15 minutes – what TOOK you so long 😉 I started drifting "out" after
the first few minutes. The background overlays were TERRIBLE, as well as
unbelievable, and their flying scenes – puhLEASE. The best "actors" were
the "shape changers", and even THAT was too obviously computer generated.
I could go on and on. Sadly, being a SciFi "addict", I watched (glub)
the WHOLE THANG (eeeYUK).Space Rangers wouldn't even rate a grade "B" (as
in, "B-grade movie").
I assume that it was a one time 'fill-in', cuz it shore wouldn't last
very long if it was supposed to be a new series (sssshuuddeerrrrr).

Hmmm – "it was so bad" – are we talking about Babylon 5 or the Space
Rangers? I haven't seen B-5 yet (I don't have cable).

It's the same bird that shows TNG. There's a feed tonight, but I have not
idea at what time. (4 or 5EST comes to mind)
I don't actually have a dish–a friend at work who does taped it for me.
Yup,The Toaster was used to do some FX in Unsolved Nysteries as well
as the Film Freejack.It's also used on a show called Mysteries from
beyond the other Dominion Sunday nights on the Sci Fi Channel
