Folks,
I've noticed that some of the new GIF pictures being posted elsewhere on
cCIS , namely in the space forum, are using GIF89A formats, which
appearently inclu include comment blocks. So far, Rend24 1.05 and WASP 2.0
beta will not properly convert this images. Ren work properly with these
files. Rend24 produces something that looks like all the bitplanes are
pasted together in a single plane. Wasp just says that it can't recognize
the format. I can't find anything in the libraries that will properly
convert these images. Any Ideas?

I run HamLab's "gif2hl" filter on GIF89A's, then run the HL file through
Wasp.
One thing you may want to try, is to use a binary file editor such as
NewZAP or a text file editor that handles binary properly (such as TxEd
(commercial)) to change the "9" to a "7". I know that HAMGIF and VirtGIF
don't complain if I do that. I can't remember if I ever tried that with
Wasp or not.
