Mark, MAJOR PROBLEM with Quarterback 5.0! I backed up my DH0: partition a few days ago, using 16-bit compression. Today I needed to restore a file I'd lost, so I went to QB to restore it. Well, the file was in my S: directory, so it was pretty far back in the 47-disk backup. I went to Restore and selected the file I needed. Well, first of all, QB started asking for disks in sequence… Disk 1 and 2, then 3, etc. I guess this is an artifact of adding compression to the program, but it's a major pain to have to insert ever disk in the backup to get one file that's toward the end of the backup set. Anyway, that was an annoyance, not a showstopper. The problem came when I got to Disk 8. On Disk 8, it told me it couldn't decompress a file–should it continue or cancel. I told it to continue and look for the next file. Well, it went back to reading the floppy and then later popped up the requester again. And again. I kept clicking the quarterback requester, telling to to look for the next file–for about a half hour, hoping it would eventually give up on Disk 8 and go on to Disk 9. No luck. I eventually gave up and cancelled the restore. It seems my backup is now useless from disk 8 on, if I can't get past it. This is a MAJOR problem, if one problem disk in the backup set can trash most of a backup. I'm hoping and praying you have a solution for this. At _worst_ we need the option to skip a problem disk and go on to the next one. At best QB should be able to skip right to the correct disk in the first place and not require 40 disk swaps to restore a single file. Anxiously awaiting an answer…. ….Denny
