I just inherited an Amdek LD-1 drive, manufactured i n1987. I found a thread here about drivers and will followup with the BBS they suggest. However, I've got another problem. The cabling that came with it is 37 pin connectors. I don't have such an animal on my machine. I have a SCSI port, but it is a different configuration. Am I supposed to have a special board? Also, I have no software. Any suggestions? Thanks. Tom

Tom, You need an interface board for that Amdek. Since Amdek was selling Hitachi drives, you may want to contact Hitachi about getting a board. Frank

Thanks, I was afraid of that. Tom

Frank, I just wanted to make sure that the board I need isn't the same as my existing SCSI? I assumed not from your answer, but thought I'd clarify before racing off on a hunt for the board. Thanks. Tom

Tom, That Amdek is not a SCSI drive, so your SCSI board won't work. Frank

Thanks, that's what I thought..just wanted to be sure. In the meantime, the folks at the university (from whom I got the drive) found the board. I wonder if the documentation was with it…probably too much to hope for. Thanks. Tom
